There already are rev limiters in cars. This feature keeps you from blowing the engine, not hitting children. There are already speed governors in cars. These are set on what the manufacturer feels as a fit speed. Speed bumps deter emergency vehicles. I have also lived in a neighborhood which installed them, then removed them because emergency vehicles couldn't get to the location quickly enough to save lives, or the force of the speed bumps have hampered emergency medical treatment en route to the ER.

Your proposals are an oversimplified solution to a multifaceted problem. Much the same way traffic cameras are an oversimplified solution to a multifaceted problem.

Your children are your responsibility. Not mine. It's your job to keep them from running out into the streets. Not mine. It's your job to supervise them. Not mine. If you don't have the time, then maybe you should put your children up for adoption because clearly they are not important enough in your busy schedule to make time to protect and supervise them.

They installed a lot of speed bumps where I live. Now they want to take them out, because ambulances and fire trucks can't get anywhere fast.

I don't know about a rev limiter. What about a rev reporter? or a speed reporter? Cars would be capable of any speed in an emergency, but you'd have to account for it later.

Teach the children to look both ways before they cross the street, that usually works. Also, rev limiters do nothing to make anyone safe. Responsibility and driving ability keeps people safe.

I don't think it would make a difference really...Parents should be watching their children anyways. In my old neighborhood, there were speed bumps and people would just speed in between them anyways. I think that makes it a tad bit more dangerous.

I dunno...i think people should watch their kids. Dont let them out of your sight. Inside of apartment complexes and shopping centers, around parks...then yeah...but not just on random streets.
