I have been taking it off and on for years. I take 10 mgs too. I tried 15 mgs once for a few weeks but was clenching my teeth and could not stop eating, so went back to 10 mgs. I think the worst side effect for me is weight gain, but my depresion is noticeably better when I am on it, though not completely gone. I do like it better than any other anti-depressant, including all SSRIs, SSNRIs, and Wellbutrin. They say that you can have headaches. I am a migraine person and I did not notice an increase in my headaches when I went on it. I would give it two weeks, three weeks if you can tolerate that. If the headaches continue, you'll have to find an alternative. And, if you are going to discontinue the use of it, try going on 5 mgs for a few days, not stopping abruptly. Then, wait a couple of weeks before starting another drug. So you can tell what is withdrawal from what is side effect of new drug. Pain in the neck, I know... Hope it will work for you though and the headaches stop.

I've been taking Lexapro for approx. 3 years. Headaches are normal in the beginning, but will subside. My only side effect is feeling tired. I've been told by my doctor not too long ago to take the pill in the evening so that maybe the side effect will occur during my sleeping at night. I have not tried this, but will eventually. I am on 10 mg. a day. I have gone off this drug to see if I really don't need it, but my family would agree that I do. Its suppose to take the edge off things. I have high anxiety and mild depression. I guess it works, but its not a miracle drug.

I am on lexapro also. I take 20 mg 2x a day. The highest dosage they give. When I first started taking it I had some of the same symptoms plus I slept alot. They eventually went away. I would give it another week and if the side effects don't go away notify your doctor he may have to put you on something else.

I have been taken Lexapro 10mg for a week and a half now. At first I wasn't sure I liked it. I couldn't sleep, had headache, and felt buzzed from it. There are two people in my house who are on it also, they felt the same way and told me to give it time to adjust. My side effects have almost went away. I asked my Counsilor about them too, and she told me it takes upto two weeks for your body to adjust. Your brain chemicals need to adjust to this medicine so it can produce the right chemicals in your brain. Also get on line and look up side effects of Lexapro.
Hang in there and give it time. The medicine is really great for you if your body can adjust to it. I have never felt this good in my life. I am 100% better today then I was two weeks ago. Give it time and you will see, and if not go to a doctor for a different medicine.

Some people have good responses from it. It takes 2 weeks before you respond to the medicaton.
My daughter was sleepy at first from it but this subsided.
Keep in touch with the doctor while taking this and if you feel worse or more depressed after awhile let them know but most people respond well to this drug.

I've been taking it for over a year. I never felt any side effects. You might want to talk to your doctor about switching to another medication.

I've taken it for months. It is not a wonder drug for depression but i found it to be the one with least side effects.
