Yes, you can be buried in any national cemetery. I have several family members buried at Fort Rosecrans in San Diego, and not all of them retired from the service.

I'm editing after doing a little research. Here's a very informative article regarding burial rights. ALL veterans have rights.

I think you do. Basically they give a Burial Plot in a Military Cemetery (First come first serve, do not hurry though, Ha!). Usually it may be listed in the Newspaper when they open one. I have been told I should get one, not sure, as I thought of just being Cremated. I think you can contact a Funeral Home and they may have information, or, call the V.A.! Funeral Home may be faster. They did provide a Head Plate at on time, not sure they do that anymore. As far as money for your Burial I think you on your own. But, you can get a free place to stay and an address plate. ;-)

I did a double-check with the VA website first.

Yes, ANY veteran of military service discharged under conditions other than Dishonorable, is eligible for burial benefits.

Check out the VA.gov website, and the VFW.org website, also military.com. There's tons of information not only on burial benfits and entitlements, but also resources on how you cant start taking advantage of all of your benefits.
You've served our nation proud, and youre entitled to certain benefits.

Yes, your burial benefit is most definitely available, and you may be eligible for many more benefits as well. You are a Vietnam era vet, you did not have to serve in Vietnam to be eligible, there are programs just for you, Go to the VA or VA.gov and check it out. Thanks for your service

They will supply a coffin(cheap), bury you in a National Cemetery and even if you want cremate ya and bury you at sea. If you get regular burial you rate a free veteran headstone.
