My soon to be ex is refusing to pay child support, alimony or do anything the court ordered. He motioned against the order and lost. My attorney said we had to give him two weeks. That will be Monday. In full the order was placed on Sept. 1. That is over a month and a half.
I tried to check on line and from what I gathered my ex can motion the show cause order. Very sickening if that is true. What are my chances of ever seeing a dime? We have little food and my little guy needs winter clothes. I need to get back to work and I dont have money for day care. Because of the court order and his income I can not get state aid for daycare. We are above the poverty level. He makes over $150,000 a year!! He claims only $23,000 on taxes!
Help with info please! I need to know the process of Show Cause hearings. Thank you.

I do have an education. Before my husband I made good money. The problem is that he wont pay daycare and therei isnt a day care around that will take my son for free. I cannot get financial aid because until the divorce is final my income is still combined with his. Even though I have only $3.00 in my bank account the state will not help.

So please no more answers pointing the finger back at me. I have no one to watch my son until he pays up. I cannot get a loan or a credit card. He has ran my credit in the ground. His mom has been in charge of paying the bills. Ofcourse the made mine late and past 30 days all the time.

The reason I stayed is that my little guy had severe heart problems when he was born and needed care and a strong stay at home mom for the first couple years. So if you are going to be rude. SAVE IT!!
Please provide info about the Show cause hearing.

All you can do is work with your Child Support Enforcement.

As for not qualifying for State Aid for child care because of the court order, I would request to speak to someone at the state level, not your county level.

Believe it or not, you do qualify for assistance based on your actual income, and living expenses.

Your child also qualifies for various types of assistance because he is a child.

Absent parents who chose not to pay support do make it difficult, but you can get assistance to get on your feet, and become self supporting for you and your child.

Don't expect the money by winter,

Even after the court finally orders him to pay a certain amount, he can just refuse and be in contempt

And why does his income have any bearing on daycare aid, It sounds like you are giving the welfare people far too much info.

And if he only shows 23,000 in earnings, you will of course have to prove he makes more. If you don't prove it, then child support will be based on the 23,000 a year figure.

But if you have just gotten all of this filed, expect a year or two to start gettng money if he is just refusing to pay and you have to garnish his pay.

I am sorry to hear, honey. What a petty man he is!

This may not be what you want to hear, but am sure it is what you need to hear: You need to learn to support yourself, without relying on him. He knows he's got you in the fist, and will use it to manipulate you.

Did you get an education? Get it now! Ask in your state's Department of Social Services, or even Infoline, about training programs for low income adults and single mothers. Many even provide daycare.

If you need public assistance, please apply for it. It is only temporary, but don't let your child go wanting for anything because that scum won't pay! It is most important for you to be able to get on your feet, and that will be the only way you will have control of the situation.

I wish you the best, from the bottom of my heart.

Go to the local department of human services office. You may be shocked at what you actually do qualify for. Your pride may be wounded in the process, but better that than your little guy starving! Also, try your local food pantry and churces for help with food and utility bills. The local Red Cross may be able to help or point you in the right direction to find help.

I hope things get better.

The girl who said you need to learn to totally support yourself is 100% right! You may never see a dime from him. If he is fighting you this hard, he may do all kinds of sneaky things (everything he owns in someone else's name) to keep from paying you!
