Im working on an 87 jeep Cherokee 4.0 inline 6cyl. I have replaced the fuel pump relay and the fuel pump only to discover that the voltage that should be comming out of the connector for the fuel pump is only at 2/3 what it should be. I need instructions on how to locate the voltage drop in the system.

Check the wiring diagram and find the connectors/junctions feeding the fuel pump circuit... your poor ground or connection
will be in this circuit and tracing it is the only way to isolate the problem.. poor grounds are 90% of electrical probs.. and cause
super heated connections and discoloration of the connectors..
Lotsa luck

You might also consider running a replacement wire from the pump to the power source and attach it to the fused origination point……….I would
