put egg in cold water on the burner. bring to the boil, turn timer on for 3 minutes. dont turn the heat down, keep it rapidly boiling for the whole time. mmmmm... dont forget the toast soldiers!

Pierce the blunt end with a pin and place in boiling water. 4 1/2 minutes at sea level - more if you live at 1500 ft. like I do.
To test, take the egg out of the water and away from the steam and count 10 seconds. The shell should be completely dry. I f it dries before you've counted to ten it's overdone and you can't do much about it. If it's still wet, pop it back for a few seconds.

Place in boiling water for v3-4 mins depending on the size of the egg and if you are cooiking more than 1 crack the tops of them with a spoon to stop them setting.
