It really depends on what the topic or situation is. If it's someone who makes you feel bad about yourself all the time - steer clear! If it's an alcoholic parent, you can't steer clear. You need to address it. More details, please....

Sometimes trying to understand what it is about the topic that upsets you can set you free.
Ask yourself this question, if it is a topic you can ponder it, but if it is a situation like child abuse it won't go away and should be reported.
Some things you can ignore in life, but others bother you because you know it isn't right and the reason you can't stop thinking about it must be because you can help to make it right, I'm not saying this is the case just examples.
If something affects you chances are even though you are exposed to it over and over again it will still upset you, like a mosquito bite, no one ever gets used to it, even though we all have been bitten a zillion times.

If you're not happy, only you have the power to change that. Either you can eliminate whatever it is from your life that's upsetting you, or you can accept it, deal with it, and move on. It depends on which type of person you are. Some aren't so good at acceptance, they'd rather just get rid of the negative things altogether...It depends on what it is.

It depends on the situation and your reaction to it. If your reaction is damaging to yourself or others, you might want to steer clear of it unless you have support people availible to stop the situation if it looks like it is getting out of hand.
If your reaction is not damaging, just inappropriate or annoying, then you might want to face the situation as gradually as you can while you try to adjust your reaction.
