You can paint anything you want...with restrictions. You cannot sell it for a profit, you cannot pass it off as a real Picasso and you cannot copyright it as your own.
Painting the Masters is an often used tool in many art classes....it teaches you different techniques as well as how to mix colors.

yes you can make a copy
but not try to forge an original
seen a program about a guy who used to copy works of art
but he forged the pictures to perfection
they reckoned he was so good at painting in the style of the artist that some pictures which are classed and catalogued as originals are actually pictures he painted, he made the original
reckoned he ripped off millions
got caught and locked up, done his time and now he legally sells copies of old masters
he makes an absolute fortune because his work is so highly sought after
he has become a famous artist in his own right for making copies.

Yes..and if you can "make a profit" selling it...you must be an accomplished painter. Just don't try to sell it as a Picasso else you will be breaking the law.

There ought not to be a problem as long as you don't try to pass them off as by Picasso or try to profit from them without first seeking permission from the Picasso estate.

Not a problem! You can learn so much by copyiong the masters but when you name your work always add "After Picasso" so people are not fooled by it.

My mother bought a "Mona Lisa" painted by a local artist. It was great. She signed her own name to it and my mom loved that painting. Have fun (it's harder than you think it might be)!
