At first it made me sleepy -- very sleepy. Then my body adjusted and I get a good nights rest instead of laying in bed each night with my mind reeling. Also it has negative sexual side effects -- lowers the libido and greatly reduces ability to reach orgasm.
The other replies describing anger, agitation, irritation, jitters and worsened depression are effects I experienced with Wellbutrin XL -- it was AWFUL. I imagine that is how suicidal people must feel right before they commit.
I have also tried Lexapro, which seemed to not really do anything. I say if you are seeking help stay in close contact with your doctor and monitor your effects by writing them down and ask someone whom you trust to monitor you too -- might be hard to hear, but it is necessary for your best health to be totally honest with how these meds are affecting you.
Lastly, when you switch back and forth or try something new -- you need to give your body and the medication time to do what they do. Again, keep in close contact with your doctor to work out what is best to meet your individual needs. Best wished.

my shrink asked me if i had any weird or unusual experiences while driving and I did not know what he was talking about and he said I would know if I did, well, a few weeks later, I am driving down the road and all the sudden everything seemed strange, frightening, I don't know how to explain it, but things looked wrong and I was afraid I would run into another car or something. I freaked out. I stopped in the middle of the road, then I pulled up a little and turned left into the first place of business and sat there until it passed. I never took zoloft again after that. I could've been killed or killed someone else.

Worst side effects: Jitteriness (hyper, impatient, belligerant), and sexual dysfunction (lower libido and inability to achieve orgasm). Some people only have mild side effects. I have a male friend who's been on it for years. For him the sexual "setback" was a good thing because he suffered from premature ejaculation. But we all think it did make him a more hyper person. I could not stand it. It also made be clench my teeth and grind them at night. Go to remedyfind, a website that lists therapies for different conditions and has regular people critique them, listing what doses they're, how long they took it, etc...

I feel worse actually. Don't take it if you haven't already. If you have, then stop (consult your doctor first). Try less evasive medications. Zoloft, has hightened some good traits and enhanced some destructive paranoid parts as well. Its different for everyone. I feel more bipolar.

I gained 40 pounds in like 3 months!!! My doctor switched me to Welbutrin & that seemed to work better for me. I also lost all the weight & more. I've been on a lot of different anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds at different times & Welbutrin worked the best. Good Luck!

I got extremely nervous and eventually more depressed than I was without it. The first time I took it I thought I'd have to jump off a bridge it was so bad.

The only side effect I had was delayed ejaculation, which my wife loved, cause it would last a hour or longer.
