Hi Guys! I have a Wharfedale freeview box but no ariel socket to connect it to in my room. Firstly I just got an ariel and dangled it out of the window. This worked quite well but there were a still a few channels I couldnt get like BBC1 and 2 so I bought an ariel splitter to connect to the socket downstairs in the living room and a 10m ariel lead which I connected from the, now split ariel feed from the living room, up the outside of the house, through my window and into my freeview box.

However..... I have now have some of the channels I didnt have but have lost the ones I did! The reception in the living room is perfect so I can see no reason why if I'm taking from the same ariel feed I should also get all the channels. (I have done the first time installation thing)

Sorry for the long and boring post but does anyone have any ideas what I could do now?

Hi Jon , perhaps the ariel you have split from is not a digital one.A simple solution is to buy an indoor one . I have found that Ebuyer sells them at a good price , and I have had no problems with delivery . Hope this helps , AJ.

Which aerial are you plugged into - i wager you've tried both. The indoor aerial isn't solid sufficient. Freeview needs a extra constructive signal than old analogue television to paintings perfect. extra constructive ability a more advantageous signal with a lot less interference. in case you improve a weak signal with a number of of interference, you improve the signal AND the interference = loud interference ... no longer solid. the most likely answer is you want a sparkling aerial. Freeview publicizes on frequencies larger than the old channels, that old aerials can't %. up. If channel 5 on analogue replaced right into slightly fuzzy using your old aerial without booster, yet BBC1 and ITV were ok, then i might want to say that exhibits a sparkling aerial is needed. they are truly low priced from DIY shops in case you slot your self. It doesn't unavoidably ought to flow on the roof, yet that would want to help. in case your enormous aerial is more advantageous than about 10 years old it would want to no longer be ideal for Freeview. also, what's Freeview signal skill like on your section? verify consisting of your nieghbours - do they get an outstanding photo? Do they use a booster? In an outstanding signal section you ought to no longer want a booster however in case you run many extensions. I run 5 extensions from the aerial on my roof without booster. My mum receives perfect photo using an aerial I were given from B&Q for 15 quid in the loft of her bungalow, and that i outfitted it by technique of in basic terms pointing it about the right way and checking by technique of yelling down "is the photo ok?" and then shifting it slightly, repeat.

I had exactly this problem 2-3 weeks ago.

It looks like digiboxes just DON"T like sharing their ariel with other digiboxes.

Form my experiences up the loft ( which I won't bore you with) each digibox is much happier with it's own ariel.

Just buy a little cheapie there are some great bargains on Ebay that's where i got mine.

Have you used digital aerial coax cable for the extension? Digital cable has a foil shield as well as a braid shield. If it still isn't working put a booster on the splitter.

go-to Argos, buy a aerial kit, (£10) and install one in your loft..
in the corner of the ceiling, put a medium screwdriver through into the loft, find it in the loft, and run the cable down, using mini clips to secure it out of sight.. then connect it to your free view box.. if you are not sure which way to point it, look at the others in your street.....(make sure you do a full re-tune/install in the digibox menu)

You need a digital aerial on the roof into your room. These are about 90 pounds. You will need one when analogue goes off to watch your freeview.
