The Old Testament is the Divinely inspired Word of God. I hold what God says with respect. Also nothing in the Bible contradicts itself. If think it does show us where and show you it fulfills the New Testament.

So much of the New Testament is just a quote, or a fulfillment, or an explanation, of the Old Testament, that there's no point in pulling out the rest of it. Popular Christianity likes to keep the Psalms for comfort, Proverbs for wisdom, and of course all the good old stories, and the prophecies of the Messiah's coming, and -- what's to leave out? The Ten Commandments? Or, just the one or two of them that are making me uncomfortable?

How could you leave off the old? Everything from how the sacrificial offerings were done, to how things were built, to the sabbath, all things typified Christ: This perfectness, His righteousness, and the most important, the prophesy of His redemptive work. No sir, give me the whole bible because it's all about Jesus.

of course it's contradicting...all of its a load of b.s. anyway, from one story to another.
I think we would've all been better off without religion at all, as it's a load of croc.
The world suffers because of manipulation, because the books of the bibles are written with the intent of manipulation.
And on top of that, it's full of mythology, with the intent to hide any actual good intent it may have once had...for what purpose? to confuse us? to not fully admit it doesn't really know what it's suppose to say? Or maybe we're narrow minded people who don't deserve to know what life may really mean.
E.g. : Adam and Eve, and "breaking off the rib"... is just a mythological cover-up to the true mathmatical existence of life: The chromosomes X and Y...what happen's when you "break of a piece"? You get a Y...
hmmmm...

I've asked the same question many times. They'll tell you 'because it's God's word and God's word is immutable'.
(except, of course, when it isn't...)
I think they leave it in to allow themselves squirming room. They can always play off 'immutable word' with 'old law' to mould the Bible into any shape they so desire.
It's not really 'salad bar Christianity' so much as 'Play-Doh Christianity'.

Actually when I read the OT all I read always seems to be pointing towards Christ. Over and over again the OT looks towards the coming of Christ.

Right on Jibba, when I was one of them I never understood why we were supposed to read the OT at all.
When they try to explain it they look really stupid
