He was laying in the hallway this morning and just pooped on the floor. I am just scared because he has never done that before. What can I do for him?

Take your cat to its vet...today.

When cats poop or pee in unusual places, that means something is upsetting them.
Think about things that have been going on lately. Has something changes lately? Has the furniture been changed around? Is there a new pet in the household or has one died recently? Has your schedule changed? Often, changes in the household upsets the cat and the only way he feels in control is to send a stinky message.
If things are not different in the home, this can mean that something is physically wrong. Again, the cat is sending a stinky message that he doesn't feel right and he is asking you to make it better. It's time to take him to the vet.

If i was you I would take him to the vet, but if the vet can't find anything wrong with him than he's probably just upset about something. If you've changed cat food recently or got a new job so you're not around as much, stuff like that can upset your cat.

As long as your cat is NOT in obvious distress, observe him for a while to see what the matter is. Was he locked out of his litter box? Sometimes cats and dogs will poo or pee in a very inappropriate place as a kind of "protest" at a situation at home. Have you been ignoring him? Did you have a recent "addition" to the house (another pet; a baby?).

Just the other morning, I walked out of my room to find that my 1 yr old left a poop smear in the hallway and dropped a tiny bit of poop on the living room rug. He has never done this either and there is nothing medically wrong with him. I figured that he was angry at being left out of my room when the other cat was inside with me all night. It was his way of saying, "That stinks!"

cats only misbehave (ie peeing pooing outside of the litterbox) when there's something wrong.
as unfortunate as it is, it's usually a sign that something has been wrong for a while and now you're seeing sypmtoms of it, because cats can hide problems pretty well.
do yourself and your kitty a favor. call your vet to make an appointment today, for today with whatever vet you can get, as soon as possible. (walk-ins are treated as emergencies and can cost sometimes hundreds of dollars more just for being a walk-in)
when you do get there, bring in kitty's stool sample so they can check for worms or whatnot.
As well, they may want to do xrays. Be prepared to answser any and all questions on kittys eating habits and whether or not it goes outside (may have eaten a bad mouse)
Good luck. Get well, kitty!

get him to a vet a soon as you can. my kitten did that and it got really bad. it got to the point that he couldn't move, couldn't use the bath room, and we had to force feed him. vet trip after vet trip shot after shot. but in the end he just ended up dieing. im not saying that that is what is wrong w/ Ur cat but i would still get him checked.

It is unusual that a cat would defecate on the floor instead of the litter box. I'd call the vet office and ask them, if they recommend taking him in to check him out, do so.

check his litter box to make sure he is urinating...He may have a urinary track infection....my cat gets them all the time and that is one of the first signs he gives....You need to take him to the vet if he is not urinating
