Hm.... let's see... posting FACTS out of a science book is, at least according to you, just as offensive as posting PREACHING from a book of MYTHOLOGY? I see... I see... then there we have it, faith really IS the same as fact! My goodness, imagine what else is fair game now that faith = fact!

I don't get offended. Unless they're posting half the Bible, but then I just get annoyed. One should be able to put an answer into their own words, even if they are getting that answer from elsewhere. And I don't see many posting stuff directly from a Science book. I see them posting links to articles concerning what they are talking about. I also see people posting links to Bible passages and don't see anyone getting upset over that.
And they tell you to go read a science book because so many Christians insist that no one else but them has read the Bible... therefore telling non's to "Go read the Bible". And I'm sure even Christians will say they've had other Christians tell them that concerning a doctrine they are discussing. This is not supposed to be "Us vs Them". It's supposed to be about answering questions and being able to overlook the differences and disagreements in order to try to see it from anothers view. But, I guess that's next to impossible in here.

I like to think for myself, instead of thinking what someone else tells me to think. "Someone else" refers to teachers, priests, pastors, all bible-thumpers, and anyone trying to force my hand or otherwise manipulate me.
I've read the Bible, and I've researched several other religions. Faith is a great thing to have - I encourage it! I'm not a "non-believer" by most standards - I have faith. I believe that organized religion is a crutch for people who were never taught to think for themselves.
As for science, well, scientists have proved their theories - to some degree. Nobody has ever proved that there IS a God/Goddess or that Jesus ever existed. HOWEVER - that is where faith comes in. I believe that it IS possible to require proof and have faith at the same time. Many things should be taken on faith - how do you prove that you love or care for someone? You can say the words till you're blue in the face and never mean them.
Christians, in general, don't offend me. I get offended when I'm not feeling so great and some f*ckin' waiter says, "Oh, well, you know the Lord works in mysterious ways." That bothers me - especially when I'm not feeling good. It's too fluffy bunny for my taste, and thus, offends me.
Non-denominational churches, pastors, and congregations don't offend me; they're not buying into one particular cluster of cancer.

What a rubbish question. Science books contain things that are the result of experimentation, observation and methodical investigation. Christian scripture is 2000 years old and of largely unknown authorship. You feel a reasonable comparison can be made?

There's no comparison there. If you want to post something from a respectable scientific article, go ahead. The problem with quoting scripture is that it isn't based on observable fact or research.

Not so much offended, as bored. We are here for your thoughts and ideas. We can find scripture by ourselves. Quoting a short passage to support your ideas is a great idea, but just posting a scripture, especally a long one, is not a useful exchange of information.

you may think of it fairly is extraordinary for non believers to no longer have self assurance in god, yet it incredibly is merely because you in all probability have been taught from an early age approximately god. in case you fairly think of roughly it, If somebody the place again as much as you for the 1st time and inform you with regards to the bible once you the place 18, there is not any way you've got self assurance. This and the shortcoming of evidence.

The science book is based on tested and demonstratable experiments. If you disbelieve what we say, you can go to a lab and test it.
There is no way to test the scriptures. They must be accepted axiomically, and you do not seem to understand that axioms are unprovable and thus, free to accept or deny. We do not accept as true the axiom of scripture, so until you can prove, in a testable and demonstratable way, that the scriptures you are quoting can be proven from simpler axioms and are not themselves axiomic, you cannot use them in a proof.

because posting quotes from a book of fiction rather than a book of facts is like telling someone to go watch a kung-fu movie to learn martial arts.
