I suffer from mild depression. I've cut myself in the past not with a knife but with other things. I've hit my head in the wall, just different things. I'm easily angered over the most stupidest things. Things that shouldn't even matter. I have done risky things in the past like unprotected sex and etc outside of my marriage. I get very violent, hostile when i'm mad/angry. I'm afriad that i'm setting my family up for failure. I know for a fact i'm damaging my children and I'm scared. Sometimes I feel my head is going to explode with racing thoughts. I dont even know how to make realistic/practical decisions. If it were up to me i'd prolly be living on the streets due to being bankrupt because i would have already spent everything i had plus some. Sometimes i'm more outgoing than other times. Sometimes i'm there but I just feel like i dont fit in or like i'm just withdrawn from everyone/everything.

It seems to me that you have Borderline Personality disorders because you are in the habit of cutting yourself. You might also have a mild case of bipolar (poor judgment, overspending..) Mental illnesses sometimes come in a pack. Try to educate yourself if you have the energy to read.
Try to seek help. Medication and therapy is something that you need if you want to change the quality of your life. There is help out there. I am not a doctor and am not trying to diagnose you. Besides docotors are not always right. One time I was diagnosed schizophrenic instead of OCD, I speak form experience and I know mental illnesses very well. If you do not get some professional help you might become a danger to others as well as to yourself.

It is possible that you are bipolar. There are a number of different forms of bipolar illness, including one that might fit your circumstances if you also have bouts of depression as well as mania.

Apparently you have not been treated for anything or you would not ask such a question. First of all I know a number of things about bipolar because I am bipolar and have been without relapse for five years which is very good. I feel great. Everyone has to have a doctor (psychiatrist) and preferably a separate counselor for talk therapy. The psychiatrist will prescribe medication. Not every combination of medication works for every bipolar person. Everyone has a different body chemistry. I tried a couple of different combinations that made me worse before I got the combination that works right now for me, but the dosage has to be tweaked up or down frequently depending on my feelings. Currently I take depakote-er for the mania and effexor-xr for the depression and anxiety. Since effexor can cause mania, the balance of the two are closely monitored by my doctor. I trust my doctor. If you dont like your doctor get another one. The most common mistake bipolar people make is not having one they trust and the second one is stopping medication before they talk to the doctor and get a medicine review. Much good luck to you. You can beat this thing and have a better life.

Identify the source of your frustration. Is it your job, relationship with someone? Is it because You can't get what you want coz there are too many obstacles? Feeling 'trapped' nowhere to go. Young children can also add to stress. When stressed and driven to the end it is normal to 'fight' or 'flee'. Frustrations in life can drive you to think that you are going crazy. Having unprotected sex is your way of escapism. Everyone goes through stress and depression from time to time if you have had a difficult life which actually starts way back from childhood. It is good that you have recognised your signs of depression at an early stage. For now, my advise is that you should see a psychiatrist. Don't be afraid. This does not mean that you are crazy. There are medication available to overcome your physical behaviour to calm down each time you think you can get violent or hostile. When you have sort out your problems you can stop your medication. Your doctor will advise you best. There is nothing wrong with you. Due to high-stressed living many people seek psychiatric opinion. Life will get back to normal, I promise. I know friends who have lived through those experiences and now lead happy lives. Take care!

Dear Possibly Bipolar
It seems to me that you do suffer from some sort of chemical imbalance; the only way to know for sure is to visit a doctor and get a diagnosis. Kudos for reaching out and and recognizing that you have a problem. Since it does have a negative impact on yourself and your family I very much suggest that you get a professional opinion. It maybe that you need to be on medication, but only a doctor could make that call.

The racing thoughts are signs of mania, which is part of bipolar. The other symptoms you describe are not as much indicative of that. The key is finding the meds or therapy that work for your particular issue. I'd make an appt. with a psychiatrist right away. And don;t listen to these ignorant insensitive types who say bipolar isn't real. i was one of them until I was diagnosed as having it and I can tell you the drugs have saved my life. Good luck.

I cannot diagnose you because:
1- I am not a psyciatrist

and

2- If I were I would have to meet with you in person.

I think you certainly need to seek out some help. It is hard to keep a friendship with a bipolar person much less a marriage and family so if you love your family you will get professional help.

No, that does no longer make you bipolar. the only person who can truthfully diagnose you would be a psychologist. you are able to have be conscious some thing somewhat off approximately your psychological well being in the previous your mom suggested something. I truthfully have googled my indicators for the flu or a chilly and it says I truthfully have maximum cancers; base line do no longer attempt to diagnose your self. If it rather concerns you spot a specialist.

You may have bipolar disorder but it is impossible for anyone here to tell you for sure. What I can tell you is that you have sufficient reason to request a psychiatric evaluation. Some of the symptoms you are describing are very similar to my own. Most of which are now gone due to the medication I am taking. See your doctor, and bring this note with you. It will help your doctor to diagnose you properly.

Before you let anyone diagnosis you on the computer you need to go see a Dr. If you are having mood swings and or impulsive buying you could suffer from bipolar, but it could be other things. My suggestion is that you go see a Dr and get checked out and be honest when asked questions so they can properly identify your problems.
