I have no idea but there is a lot of agricultural land in England which means there must be quite a few but there certainly aren't as many as there used to be mainly because farming takes up so much time, energy and money.

The way Tesco is going, there'll be no farmers at all! Farmers have to make a living like everyone else, but if the supermarket is only interested in profits, the farmers aren't gonna be there for much longer, & we'll all have to go fishing!!

England is full of farmers. Both animal and arable. Very odd question that. There is even a growing community of worm farmers. I kid you not, my Uncles have jumped into the boat.

Loads! Me and hubby are dairy farmers and we know over a hundred in our area, so would think into the thousands.
