Absolutely! SF Municipal Pier is great and has plenty of amenities nearby. There is even a little store a few blocks away that happens to sell net traps. I didn't buy mine there so I don't know how much they cost. The pier at Candlestick Point is good also. As far as on the other side of the water, I'm not sure where you can crab from. You might try Berkeley Pier.

Of course crab season doesn't start until next month but until then I'm salivating for some free crab.

I know plenty of people who have caught crabs in San Francisco.
