I've said this many times - don't label a group of people as being all the same. There care Christians that live by the entire Book. There are Christian that only go by the New Testament. There are Christians that are hypocrites. You see this in all races, religions, cultures, etc. I am a Catholic Christian. I know what the Bible says about homosexuality. I believe that God had certain men write the Bible for all of us to know what He has to say about everything. To me being an active sexual gay is living in grave sin. Gays can change and be forgiven. We are all sinners in different ways and we all can be forgiven if we believe and ask Him.
Romans Chapter 1 and 1 Corinthians Chapter 6 and 1 Timothy Chapter 1 all talk about homosexuality (sodomites). So there are many references in the entire Bible that tells us about homosexuality being a sin. The New Testament isn't all about Jesus' teachings. It has other people's relationship with God in it along the Holy Spirit's inspiration to these writters.
It's not at all fair to group the entire Christian community together. Christianity has many different churches that teach different things. And there are hypocrites in all groups. If you meet a Christian that sounds hypocritical to you, talk to him personally. Findout where he's coming from and question him. But don't label us all as one thing. We are all individuals and we all look at our faith in different ways and have different interpretation. (though I must say the differences in Christianity is what's killing the religion. We should unite and follow one Book.)

What I find hypocritical about it is they scream about how sinful homosexuals are, that it's a sin, an abomination. Yet, look at how high our Divorce rates are. Yet, they do not speak about making it illegal to get a divorce according to their religion. Of course, that won't go over, even if someone tried. Too many wouldn't stand for that... not even within the Christian religion. Considering that the majority in America is Christian and many (not all) claim this is a Christian Nation, yet we have this? It seems they only go after those things they don't like, while holding on to any justification they can for those things they do that is against what is taught in their own religion.
And then they wonder why people don't want to have much to do with mainstream Christianity.

I think that you are the hypocrite because you want the world to believe that it OK. Homosexuality is not only a sin against God but it is also also a sin against nature. Read these verse from the New Testament and see what the same God of the Old Testament tells you about Homosexuality. Romans 1: 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: Romans 1: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. Romans 1: 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

"Are Christians being a little hypocritical?"
Well that all depends on the particular sect of Christianity, I believe. The more fundamental sects cherry-pick between the two texts. It's this cherry-picking in the attempt to support your particular bias that is "opportunistic" in my humble opinion. To my way of thinking, Christians should decide. Are you a follower of Jesus (new testament) or are you a believer in the Torah (old testament)? Playing both texts against the middle for your own personal gain or opportunity, is not necessarily hypocritical but it certainly is unconscionable.

Well maybe some are, but I don't feel that I am. He never said the word "homosexuals" but He did talk against it (lusting after same sex, ungodly lust). I live according to the whole bible because all that's in the old in some way, typified what would happen in the new. Am I saved by committing lawful acts, no, I don't have to be because Jesus fulfills that law and because I believe on Him, it's considered kept on my part. I personally don't care what gay people do, that's their business. I can only state what they word of God says on the issue.

I believe that the Bible is pretty clear that homosexuality is a sin but it is also clear that adultery is a sin. Not only that, but you don't actually have to commit adultery, just looking at a women you aren't married to with lust in your heart is the same as adultery...
Sin is sin, none worse than another and we all sin in our own ways. Thankfully, we have forgiveness for sin through Jesus Christ. I think it is wrong how many people see homosexuality as some kind of super sin - every single one of us needs Christ just as much as the next.

Jesus said that He didn't come to change the law but to fulfill it. Another gay supporter tried to convince people that eating shellfish was more sinful than homosexuality. I wrote him back that often times it is not what goes into a mans mouth that defiles him but what comes out of his mouth. However there are things that go into a mans mouth and out of a mans mouth several times per minute that surely defiles him.

What does it matter if someone other than Jesus talked about homosexuality? That person ISN'T JESUS. They say "only Jesus matters" but then "well, this other guy matters just a little for the purposes of stomping down the gays".
Pick and choose, huh? Sounds like a buffet.
