This is called a tautology.

Tautology has at least three distinct meanings:

* Tautology (logic), a statement true by virtue of its logical form.
* Tautology (rhetoric), use of redundant language that adds no information.
* Tautology, needless repetition of an idea, statement, or word; see also: pleonasm.
* Truism, an assertion that is so obvious as to add nothing to a discussion.

Tautologies are often used to stop critical thinking and questioning, as in, how dare you question this book; it was written by God! The implication is you're arrogant to question anything by God. It's a form of intellectual brow-beating.

Ignore it; keep questioning; keep thinking critically. Good on you for pointing out a particularly maddening piece of illogic.

Cheers, K

You have lots and lots of questions and that is good. Don't except or believe something because someone says so. Check it out for your self. STUDY. You will find plenty of evidence outside of the Bible that proves what is written in the Bible.

As a few others have stated already, the Bible says it is the Word of God AS DIRECTED and INSPIRED by the Holy Spirit. If you doubt this you have bigger issues. But please, STUDY the Bible to see if ANYTHING is untrue.Find a good Study Bible (preferably one other than a King James Version, try New King James Version...it reads easier...Old English can be akward and difficult to understand). Find a good Bible teaching church.

Millions of people smarter than me have discovered that God is real. We're not a bunch of brain washed mindless followers of some scheme. If you truely STUDY the Bible you'll find it is the WHOLE TRUTH. No other book is even remotely close in comparison.

Facts are facts whether we like it or agree with it or not, 2 + 2 = 4 and God does exist. Everything was, is and will be, as stated by God in the Bible.

Heck, if you don't want to study the Bible, study evolution. REALLY study it. With evolution, you'll find doubt, confusion, contradiction and UNPROVEN "results".

I know it's going to sound wierd but if you would get a Bible and ask God (remember, He does exist whether you believe it or not) to reveal Himself through His Word. If you are really seeking Him, He will absolutely answer you. It's not mind games. Millions (if not billions have come before you) have learned GOD DOES EXIST and He wants you to get to know Him. Many who read this will scoff, many who read this will pray for you and that the Holy Spirit will lead you to the most incredible adventure of your life!!!!!

With the Bible, you should work from the known to the unknown. Start at the New Testament and simply read it like a history book checking it for accuracy and you will find there is nothing contradicting non-biblical accounts of history. Then look at the life of Christ and the history of Christianity and you will find that all accounts of Jesus are accurate. And if you come to believe in Christ and his miracles, then you are obligated to listen to his teachings which include quoting the Old Testament as the written word of God.

It called FAITH. One believes in their heart and mind that their religion is the true religion. Or that God exists. Or that Jesus is the Son of God. Or that Muhammed was the greatest and last prophet. It's all based on faith. Historically, the many of the events in the Bible have been proven correct. I'm not sure about what the Qur'an says. I believe what the Holy Bible says because I have read in other history books that these people existed and wars happened and cities existed. So if 80% of the Bible has been proven to be historical correct, why can't the rest be correct? It's all about Faith and Reason (many articles written on this topic). Faith is knowledge revealed to us by God and Reason is knowledged revealed to us by ourselves.

We know that something is fact after we have researched it. A lot of people claimed that the world was flat but after research we found that to be false. However, when you put the bible into practice, you find it to be true.
Jesus said it himself in John 8:31-33 "To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

Why not. You believe that Romeo and Juliet was written by Shakespeare because it says so on the cover. What's the diff?

Yes. And.. there are millions of people more intelligent than you that have recognized the handiwork of God inside. His Spirit that breathed on select men in the past to tell His story, and prove it with telling future events to minute detail, and guide believers in their lives to lead a more productive and holy life.

I haven't seen anywhere in the bible that God said, "I wrote this book". I've seen where there were men of God who received the inspired word of God and wrote it down what God wanted them to. Yes, you're confused because you're trying to use the wisdom of man, which is totally inadequate, to try to understand the things of God.

Test the doctrine.

People tested what the tobacco companies said and their word tested false.

Test also then the Bible, I can already tell you that it's doctrine hasn't tested false in my life yet.
