We did make a mistake, but going after North Korea without the UN would be an even bigger one

The primary rasons for going after Iraq are:
- we thought we could beat Iraq easier, without support
- Iraq has oil which we need
- President Bush wanted to finish what his father started
- Politicians could get support by selling it to the U.S. people as a terrorist threat (it was a safe haven for Al Qaida and terrorists fleeing Afghanistan) and having WMD (which it did at one time)
- Even though UN didn't want to act, Iraq was in violation of UN sanctions

Why not Korea
- We know we cannot win that one alone

sadly a lot of people here r unaware about the fact that iraq qa not attacked due to links with 9/11. till date there no link between the 2 has been satisfactorily established.

so how come the US bombed iraq?? well the rate at which Pres. Bush changes statements it wud be difficult to find an exact y. everybody can only conjecture.

it cud be nything: threat to israel, oil, nuclear weapons that were never there, only secular country in the region, son Bush taking revenge for papa Bush, or it is the 1st move to re-structure the region--politically and geographically,.............. there r hundreds of conspiracy theories doing rounds. the only fact is that iraq is the lastest colony in the post-colonial era, and no it is no random whimsical move. it is taking a lot of systematic planning and effort to colonize the country. it is definitely not a mistake. crude, maybe.

is north korea more dangerous? well..........every1 with weapons is dangerous. u never now whn some political rhetoric in ny country can trigger off a nuclear war. north korea is not the only country with nuclear weapons. start with the US go till europe to israel to south asia...........nearly every1 has weapons. singling out a country for its political ideology, or the religion of its people, or their color.............is just being plain racist. it is a choice u make

It is completly obvious why it happened. Iraq has a very large supply of oil and natural gas and they are a stepping stone for invading Iran. It is total imperialism and it effing sucks to be on the wrong side of history. I can't believe how many are brainwashed and beleive that Iraq was linked to Al Quada. The only link that existed between them is that we sponsered both of them with money and weapons! Iraq had nothing to do with 9-11 but a significant group still believe it did because of our propagandamatrix.com

Iraq was no threat? They helped train and finance the terrorists on 9-11. The guy who drives the get-away car during the robbery is just as guilty as the robbers.

North Korea is really not much of a threat to us. From the reports, it looks like they didn't even have a nuke. They were bluffing. AND, even if they did, they have no way of getting the nuke to the US.

Yes N.Korea is now more dangerous but we cannot deny the following about Iraq :
A-Iraq harbored terrorist training camps in his territory,
B- found to have warehouses with hundreds of bomb vests,
C-awarded families of human bombs terrorists a $ 25,000.00 dollars bonus
D-organized a failed plot to assassinate the first president Jorge Bush during visit to Kuwait.
E.- poison gassed its own Kurd population
F.- Assassinated thousand of its citizens and hid them in mass graves.
G.- Disobeyed 18 UN Resolutions to open its territory to investigate if there existed WMD.

The mistake to topple Saddam, was to give the argument of WMD
The reason given at that moment should simply have been that Iraq WAS a terrorist State.

At the moment the US with its hands full, has to be very carefull not to eat more than it can chew.
It would be a mistake to act carelessly

Erudite, in reading most of the answers to your question, I have come to the conclusion that the average American is just plain DUMB! Sorry to offend you Erudite because I know you are one of the very few with a brain, but half of the hijackers turned up alive in the Middle East. A missile hit the Pentagon and the military shot down that plane in Shanksville. Bush and his Gang always reiterated that it must have cost at least $25 million to pull off something like that... Yea, they had to pay for the dynamite for the twin towers too... LOL

If ANYONE can "fabricate a story" it's the make believe Americans who spend more money on making great Hollywood movies than feeding their own people...

Because George Bush is from Texas and his family is all into the oil. They are friends with the Bin Ladins dontcha know?

While the government tried to say it was to "Free Iraq", what that really translates into is "It is making more money for the Bush family and their oil profits"

OIL - Although people like Starla_c keep talking about 9/11 & Iraq in the same breath, even after it has repeatedly been conclusively shown......THERE WAS NO CONNECTION BETWEEN IRAQ & 9/11 FFS !

Probably. But the President won't say that he was wrong. I support our troops and I am proud to have a President that finally took a stand, but Iraq was the wrong place. It wasn't Iraq, it was alqueda (I don't know how to spell that ) that was the threat. If anyone watched Oprah yesterday then you know what I'm saying is true.

Iraq has oil. North Korea doesn't have anything and China is their biggest supporter. It's a tactical decision.
