I am not trying to clown you when I say this only trying to correct you . Birds dont fertile. When the female is ready and she has found a male that she likes she will allow the male to climb onto her back and they will do what all animals do. She will then soon lay an egg in the nest and then another and maybe another depending on the type of bird. She will stay there keeping the eggs warm. Some males will also do thier part with keeping the eggs warm. Cockatail males at least mine are, are the ones that spend more time on the eggs than the females. I have noticed that the males will sit on the eggs all day and then the female will take over at night so the male can get out to eat but later he will go and stay with her for the rest of the night. THen when morning comes she pops back out again. Parakeets are different. The female rarely leaves the nest and the males will bring food to her, even after the babies hatch the male will bring her food so she can feed the babies.
