I believe it had to do with the tradition of Judaism Joseph was in. They did not believe in shorter haircuts. I read it in a fiction book. Personally I like his hair in pictures. So are those actual pictures of him?

The old paintings are wrong. Jesus had a Crew Cut and a clean shave. He wore a business suit. And he spoke English.

Most Christians think of Jesus through those silly pictures catholics make up about him. I do believe the bible said he was an unsightly man

He was a Nazarean , like Judge Samson. no razor to touch his head . they were different from the other Israelites. that is why. Maybe he was a hippy ?
