I bought a bottle of wine solely for the bottle. It's absolutely gorgeous and I want to keep it so I can pour new bottles of wine into it for serving (yes, I wash it between uses LOL!). Anyway, it's not a standard cork, I've already tried using corks from the other bottles. It was a Spanish wine and the cork is short and fat. Any suggestions?

BTW, if you're interested the wine was Pinord or something, and the bottle is molded into the shape of a bunch of grapes and it has a pouring handle and an actual pitcher-type spout. It's very lovely!

Beach Bum, I don't put wine in the bottle until I'm ready to serve it (unless it's red and needs to be decanted).

You could always use a decorative cork

Here is your best bet: buy the air stopper kit where you can suck the air out of the new wines you are bottling and then use the grey colored corks which allow you to depressurize the bottle. then always refrigerate opened wines!!

PS...decorative corks or just plain replacement corks will not "keep" the wine...you will have a pretty bottle with toilet water inside.

If you go to a store that sells wine and beer making equipment (look it up in the yellow pages or online, I've never lived anywhere that didn't have at least one) you will find a large assortment of widths and lengths for corks. Take the empty bottle with you to find the perfect cork. You may have to buy a bagful, but they aren't expensive.

If you measured the hole opening I may be able to help. I have a cork collection. :)
