My doctor says, "better living through chemistry" and prescribes several different medications.....Don't take Paxil if you don't want to gain 40 pounds.
You MIGHT need some kind of mild meds, but first try walking, meditation and the old stand-by....prayer. God didn't mean us to be in a state of panic. That could be an evil force working on you...it also could be chemical....meds will help....and you probably won't have to take them forever. God bless!

Get out and do something you enjoy, such as going to a funny movie or taking a walk or hike. Plan your day. Having too much or too little to do can bring on a panic attack.

I don't know if you'll ever be able to "stop" them completely but you may be able to control them. I would suggest that you start with your family doctor and have him/her refer you to a good therapist/psychiatrist. You may or may not need medication but let your doctor make that decision. Some people can control their anxiety attacks simply with diet and/or exercise.
