Seems Guinness has the most votes, so thanks to all who wrote, and ten points to the first who answered.

Your favorite beer. And assuming most everyone else will be drinking their favorite beer, you'll start hearing and sharing wonderful stories about the departed person. The wake I was at ended up being a wonderful experience seeing family, catching up, and sharing the stories of her life. I'm sure the person wouldn't want you to be sad...it's a celebration of life!

(Just make sure you can crash there, have someone to drive, or program the cab company's number in your phone.)

My DH Prefers Blackened Voodoo for its sweet rich comforting taste and Murphy's Irish stout for its tranquil and peaceful "energy". These we have sent to many a funeral reception and have received no complaint. You may not be able to drown your sorrows but you can enjoy the drink while you comfort friends and family.
