I respect your belief.
I am glad you are open to both being truths.
I agree with you.
I recommend you start hanging out with people who believe in what you believe. Otherwise, you will encounter a lot of harassment.
Peace.

I understand what you are saying. Some are staunch Creationists and some are dedicated Evolutionists. I disagree with both. However, I do believe if one is to trust that the Bible is inspired of God then that one cannot accept evolution. The Bible clearly disagrees with that theory.
Does this mean Christians must ignore all scientific theory and discovery? By no means. For instance, the Bible does not disagree with the "Big Bang Theory," nor does it give evidence to that. However, a discerning Bible reader could reasonably conclude that this is possible and that God would be the source of the tremendous amount of energy needed. This would explain how the result is so perfectly designed. In fact when one views scientific discoveries and weighs them with a belief in God, they will find that science will reaffirm their belief in a Creator.
I believe the correct stand is somewhere between the two extremes.

Evolution/Creationism is not and will never be a fundamental religious doctrine. So yes, you can believe in God no matter what you feel is true about evolution. But obviously if you do believe in God and evolution, you have to give credit to God for starting the evolutionary process and trust that he guided the process to ultimately create man. To believe in evolution and mankind as complete and random chance would go against fatih in the Lord.
EDIT - There are many religions out there and if youre really curious I challenge you to put them up against the belief in Jesus Christ. I have looked into this personally and have found the evidence for Jesus and his miracles to be overwhelming. (So much so that the early christians were willing to let their children be fed to lions and burned in oil with no account of anyone ever going back on their belief) And if I believe that Jesus existed and that he did the miracles of the Bible (water to wine, healing the sick, rising from the dead, walking on water, etc..) then I am compelled to believe that he truly is God's Son and I should look into what he had to say.

Agree.
The ancient hebrew people were a culture OBSESSED with origins. Formally, one would introduce himself by his geneology, LASTLY mentioning his own name. Informally, one would at least mention his parents.
Imagine you're walking around for 40 years (40 days? That trip would have only taken 11 days... even a man who won't ask for directions isn't so bad!) and the people start wanting to go back because at least in Egypt they knew whewre they were and could rebuild an origin there.
So you go up to the top of the mountain, look up and say, "Um, Lord of All, we have a mutiny on our hands -- Where did we come from?!" Now remember - you're in a prescientific community. God starts up with, "Well, there was the quantum vacuum which is infinite in extent and duration. the oscillations of various branes on this vacua energy collided in a certain spot and the sum vacuum energy exceeded the range allowed by the uncertainty principle, allowing the collapse of that vacuum energy into a lower potential energy state, precipitating the inflationary era. Fast forward a bit and you get stars and planetary creation by the collapse of nebulous clouds, and on this planet, prebiotic chemicals self-ordered in keeping with the second law of thermodynamics because the system was receiving high-density energy and re-emitting it as low density energy, meaning that work was being done even though entropy was increasing universally."
Moses couldn't POSSIBLY have understood that. So, God did something Jesus was famous for -- he used a parable. "I created the light and the dark, I separated the waters, I created the fish, the beasts, the birds, and once everything was ready, I created you and sat back to see how you guys fared. I created, and here you are." That is the truth in parable form -- God created.
There is no reason christians cannot believe in evolution, they must merely accept the telling of Genesis as a set of parables explaining truths that Moses could not have understood at a scientific level.

Religions are actually not something although stereotypes! in case you spot a Muslim, you mechanically assume of terrorists and in the form you spot a male Mormon, you mechanically assume the guy has 10 greater effectual halves at place of dwelling!! I for one completely DISAGREE with you. If there have been no dinosaurs, then why can we've got bones in museums? Magic? Of direction now not, considering that that's the artwork of devil.... As a "Christian" you're able to desire to now not be FORCING your ideals onto others considering that that makes you... hmmmm, whats the word im staring at for.... oh, that's appropriate... A HYPOCRITE!!! And in protecting with what I learn top here, that's all you're... Now im now not saying that i don't evaluate in a much better energy, although saying that maximum effectual God is almighty and all distinctive religions are incorrect and each ones ideals are incorrect in the event that they are actually not of Christian relation is extremely hypocritical. quite hypocritical, and would not make you a Christian by any ability, kind, kind, or type. that must be the artwork of devil in the form you question me. i don't declare a faith, considering that of this very motive. They purpose wayyyy too much controvercy and confusion a number of the human race. many human beings have DIED effectively considering that in the time of their faith, and considering that it become as quickly as now not what yet yet another character believed.

Well, honestly, I know of many Christians (and I mean born again, believing what Christ did on the cross for our sins) who believe in evolution. However, I don't know how. If you are a Bible believing Christian, I don't understand how you don't take the Bible litrally.
Genesis 1:1 - In the beginning GOD created the heaven and the earth.

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways. James 1:8
We will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ.
Then we will no longer be like children, forever changing our minds about what we believe because someone has told us something different or because someone has cleverly lied to us and made the lie sound like the truth. Instead, we will hold to the truth in love, becoming more and more in every way like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.
Ephesians 4:13-15
Truth is truth. Believe one or the other. Don't try to compromise, you only show how double minded you are.
Added: There you go. Now you show your true colors. If you do not accept the Christian bible as the word of God, there is no wonder your mind is darkened. May God revel his truth to you.

They are not necessarily the same thing and it is completely possible to believe both and still be a Christian. I don't, but others do, and I don't disparage their choice to believe that God used evolution to create the current world.
It does beg the question, however, and perhaps you have a good answer - If God uses evolution, why does He do it that way? Why would he choose process evolution over Divine fiat?

Disagree completely,
God stated in Genesis that he created all things and called it good. Did he just call millions of years of suffering & death "good". Evolution does not fit with the Bible, and therefore must be discounted.
People use evolution to explain away God and how he's involved with creation, so that is why it is such a heated subject!

I agree with you that believing in evolution and being a christian are two completely different things. And, although I am a christian, i also have respect for science until they start trying to prove that humans came from apes. that is just ludicrous.

Main Line churches agree with you and so do I. It is the fundamentalist Christians that people hitch on with that cause the arguments on here....just try to realize that the people giving answers and opinions on here only feel they are fully educated on the subject they are talking about.....if they would sit back and read what they are saying they would realize how dumb and immature they sound most of the time.
