Interesting question.
This question goes right to the heart of an interesting question in psycholinguistcs: Do people think with language?
I think they can, although they don't always.
In the linguistics lab where I work, we definitely hold to the theory of that a person's mental dictionary of a new language is affected by the sounds of their native language. In other words, I think when you hear a word in a new language, your hearing is accented in such a way that your mental knowledge of that word is also accented. That means that, when you speak with an accent, you could simply be faithfully representing the already accented word you have in your mind.
So I suppose my answer to this question is yes.

Yes, when people think in words. Since the brain learns the accent of the local area.
Whatever the accent is in real life i.e. American, Canadian, Latino, English, Scottish, Indian. You will think in the accent you're most custom to and in the language you are most custom to.

Yes, people think in accents all the time I say y'all in my head, but if you are talking about deep accents of people who are not from here. The reasons they are so hard to comprehend sometimes is because they are thinking in another language which causes them to have to think of the word before speaking it.

I definitely do and the more stressed I get the broader my accent becomes in my head. And when I am speaking out loud on 'important occasions' the more nervous I get, again, the broader it gets.
My husband is a brummie and claims to have 'lost' his accent (I dont believe you can just lose an accent, it has to be a deliberate choice) and when he is stressed or angry, the odd brummy-ism pops out. So I reckon its deep down there in his sub-conscious and that he might even 'think Brummie'.

I think I do. I find when I'm writing certain things that I have dictated them to myself with an accent!

Not really. What is important is to get communication. After that you can improve your accent because of you.

I don't think so. Its your mind that thinks so you can't say if it has an accent what because you can't hear it speak.
