Pot smoking became popular with people in the sixties now after all these years it seems the continued pot smoking has screwed up their thinking. They are out of touch and think they know everything. They think they are intelligent when in reality they come off as idiots.

Well I didn't read all the mumbo jumbo, but I'm guessing the jist of that is you smoked a little (or a moderate amount) and drank some alcohol. No, no brain damage possible. The lack of motivation is probably just from the way your views about yourself have changed. Before you drank/smoked you had high self esteem, thinking "I'm a smart guy, come from a good back ground, doing good in school and I've got good freinds...I'm a nice person" When you're drinking/smoking pot you can't say the same things. I know, I went down that road. I was having real self esteem problems. I dream of being a doctor and kinda thought my chances were blown from being a pot head for a few years and doing a considerable amount of drugs. But I've realized, that was such a short period of my life. A few years! I'm nearly 20 now, and I haven't lost anything! Yea I have some memory problems, not it's nothing incurable. I just haven't been applying myself like I used to. you're probably having the same problems! You just need to surroud yourself with people who believe in you, and look up online or check out some books about people who have came from rough backgrounds (rougher than yourself) and see how far they've come! Stop thinking of yourself as a loser and that all hope is lost, soon enough you'll see the star than shines brightly, inside yourself :) And trust me, it's still there. I still have it in me, and I've done much worse than you. So I'm certain you've still got it in you! Good luck to you Fabio :)

I stopped smoking years ago because I felt what I considered to be an allergic reaction combined with unpleasant mental affects. I also know people who have smoked since the sixties and they seem pretty clear in their thinking. I have a theory that all "drugs " have different effects on different people and some should probably not use them at all. Like alcohol some can drink socially or even moderately and no problem and others.. well we all know someone that has messed their life up with that. Have you ever known someone who under the influence of alcohol becomes someone else someone very different that their sober selves ?is it a poison to them.? So my answer is yes for some .

Not necesarily. My boyfriend smokes pot and is probably the most intelligent person I've EVER met. He has smoked pot since Vietnam and the only thing the pot does is make him "lose" his words sometimes and not be able to recall exactly the correct word that he wants to use. It also makes him very very mellow and pleasant to be with - which I love. I also notice just a bit of paranoia if he has been smoking a LOT.

By the way, I do not smoke anything myself, but I do get a little bit off of the second-hand smoke. It just makes me feel comfortable and mellow.

I smoked pot every day on my way to college. Before lectures, meetings, exams, etc. I graduated from one of the top schools in Chicago & I achieved a 3.8GPA. So, I don't think pot messes up people's brains. When I smoked "flame", sure, for a few hours I might come of as "out of touch", but that was the point. So, I don't agree that pot messes up people's brains.

I'm 31 years old and I smoke pot on a very regular basis. I started when I was 15 years old and for me now it's like a vitamin that I have to have everyday. I have a real good job as a receptionist in a real estate office and I make $9.50 an hour which isn't bad here in Florida. My boss has even told me that I overqualified for this job and he will promote me as soon as the next higher position has become available. I have a two year old daughter who I love very much and everyone tells me that I do an excellent job raising her on my own. I don't claim to know everything. In fact, I know there's a lot I have to learn. I'm not affraid to ask if I don't know something. For me it's just my way of life.

I have a friend who is totally messed up from too much pot smoking. He can't stay still very long without haveing to go and smoke his pot. He can't concentrate on simple tasks. He's always spacey. In the 5 years that I've known him, I have really seen it worsen.

Yeah I agree with you 100%

true story... as a kid growing up my friend smoked pot (i tried it but couldn't breathe when i smoked it) and he was very smart. He could miss school, days on end, then come in on friday, take the tests and ace them. I mean the guy was smart!

Several years later he was writting a letter to his sister and needed me to help him because he couldn't spell simple words. His math skill were still great but his spelling and general recall had gone to pot. (no pun intended) Now instead of pot he drinks...it's really sad to remember the guy as he was before and see him now. Hes only 48 and looks at least 10 years older.

Yes . I am living proof. My pot smoking days started when i was 13. and i was a very heavy smoker in my late teens , early twenties. ( morning , day and night. )
Any one who says it is okay is kidding themselves. althoguh it can be pleasant now and again. heavy use will have a negative on the majority. as you say people get so mashed and go around stoned 24/7 not realising that their lives would be so much better without it.
Cigarette smoking has chemical effects on the brain too as well as the respiratory damage. there are over 4000 known chemicals in cigarrettes and over 400 known toxins !!!

I don't have any statistics like others do, but I agree with you 100%!
Everyone I know that smokes pot on a regular basic just "isn't there" most of the time.

the only thing that I can say about it, is that everyone that I dated who smoked pot on a regular basis, the relationship never went anywhere. Being straight most of the time I could not stand being around a stoner. Enough said....
