I workout at 5:30 every morning with a weight loss routine. I'm just not hungry at this time.

When I'm done, I shower, drink 16 ounce of water and eat 2/3 cup of Yogurt with berries.

Is this okay?

I work out early in the morning as well (for an hour), and don't eat until after my workout. It's working well for me, weight-loss-wise. Keep up the good work.

You should be focusing on losing FAT, not weight. The best way to reduce your body fat is to combine diet, cardio and to gain muscle (more muscle means higher metabolism = burn more Calories 24hr/day, even while you sleep).

1> You should consume about 20 grams of protein 45-60 minutes prior to weight-training because amino acid uptake by muscles is TWICE as high if you consume protein BEFORE a workout, compared to consuming protein after a workout.

2> performing cardio on an empty stomache does, in fact, result in burning more fat (not more calories)- this is a well established fact. BUT if you end up eating more Calories during the rest of the day then you have burned, you will still put on fat.

so.... to lose weight, you must eat less, to build muscle you must eat more - so how can you do both at the same time? It is called the "Zig Zag" method. For example, two day/week you do intense weight-training and low-intensity cardio - these are the days that you are trying to build muscle, so you eat more and have 20grams of protein 45-60 minutes before working out. The other 5 days/week you perform high-intense cardio and low intensity weights - these are the days you train on an empty stomache and eat less.

When I say "eat more" and "eat less" I mean you eat more than you need to maintain your weight or eat less than you need to maintain your weight. How much more/less can be determined by a personal trainer or nutritionist. Take a look at www.drsquat.com for more info on the zig zag diet.

HERE ARE THE BASICS:

1. you lose weight by consuming fewer Calories than you burn
2. you gain weight by consuming more Calories than you burn.
3. you should be concerned with losing FAT, not weight. There are 3500 Calories/Lbs of fat. To lost one pound of fat/week you have to burn 3500 Calories/week more than you consumed. there are 2500 Calories in a pound of muscle.
4. You should be more concerned with your percent body fat, not your weight.
5. the best, most effective way or burning fat is by combining weight-training and cardio exercise. The more muscle you have, the higher your metabolism will be. You will burn more calories all day long, including while you sleep. A health body fat percentage for males is 7-18%, females 18-24% (approximate numbers).
6. you should eat 6-8 small meals each day - this will prevent you from eating 3 large meal which will slow your metabolism while your body works to digest the large quantity of food.

As a general rule of thumb, you should be weight-training 3-4 times per week and performing cardio 3-5 times per week.

Consider hiring a personal trainer (ISSA certified) and a nutritionist. The money spent on these services is worth more than spending money on pills and potions.

U should eat something b4 a morning workout, because, it doesn't sound like u eat a lot & when u work out ur body burns fat. If there's no fat 2 burn, u could become annorexic & that's deadly in some cases.

You have the absolute right idea...........I've heard that if you can, to not exercise until after a workout because you have everything fired up to burn more calories the rest of the day.....Sound like you are right on track. Can you tell that you are either thinner or staying the same? Keep it up!

Hey, if it works for you then you're golden! But I hope you don't buy into the myth that working out on an empty stomach helps you burn more calories.....that is another of those tales spun by ppl. who don't know what the hell they're talking about. Good luck!

If you aren't feeling hungry than you don't need to eat before hand. It is important to eat afterwards though, which you are. Sounds like you've got a good plan going!

I work out at the same time. I don't eat either til I get to work or on the way. Whatever works for you is good. I can't work out after eating for at least an hour or so anyway.

he metabolic powers certain foods have to make your body burn a lot more body fat.” It is a way of rating foods, primarily based on “how a lot of calories your physique is going to burn just breaking down the nutrients every time you consume a certain meals.”
Therefore, you are not alone in this battle.
