Why have christianity and Islam used God to conquer new lands?
Where is the spiritualism? This life is too short to fight over whose god is the one god! Try to find your own way to god that is enlightenment. Human suffering stems from our consciousness of the fact that we were created and from our hunger to know what is our purpose in life! Animals don't think about that. Why fight like animals over whose god is right and if your religion calls for hating those who don't believe in your faith, converting them or killing them, can you not see that it is a political ideology istead of spiritualism. What god casts it's own creation in hell for all eternity for not calling him by a certain name? If he was so petty, is he really god? Is God not above religions? Do you really believe in god or your own religion and it's doctrine?

Has religion become more important than god itself?

I am a Christian but I do agree with alot of what you're saying. What happens is that people use religion as a platform to push their own political agendas. If they want land, say God said get it, then that justifies it in their minds.

Yes, God is above religions. I personally HATE religion, although I use the term "Christianity" as a means of clarification. And my God does not put people in hell for not calling him by a certain name. He doesnt put people in hell at all. We have free will, just as I chose to follow my God and you yours. If we chose to follow the path that leads to hell, then that's on us. You're right when you say why fight over who's god is right or wrong. It's foolish to do so.

I truly believe in my God but I think most people believe in a theory or a philosophy that keeps them warm at night, so to speak. And as I said earlier some people just want justification for their actions.

If we all stopped fighting over whose religion is right and simply listened to God and loved each other, I think we would all find enlightenment, to use your word for it, and the world would be a better place as a direct result. It's not about religion, it's about God and when people begin to see that, maybe there won't be so much hatred between us.

From my studies of religions and religious philosophies I have found that spiritual knowledge and awareness is the true basis
of most religions. It was what the prophets or Messiah's (teachers) were trying to teach or communicate.. Whether it was Moses , Guatama Buddha, Jesus or Mohammed.
Your's is probably one of the oldest religions and predates these, but still communicates the same sacred lore or knowledge of a spiritual nature.
There is nothing wrong with any religion, but there is something wrong.
This is my viewpoint:
"A society is capable of surviving for thousands of years unless it is attacked from within or without by hostile forces. where such an attack occurs, the primary targets are it's religious and national gods and heroes,it's potential of leadership and the self respect and integrity of it's members.
If you look around you , you will find countless examples of these points. They scream at us every day from the newspapers and TV.
Probably the most critical point of attack on a culture is it's religious experience. Where one can destroy or undermine religious institutions then the entire fabiric of the society can be quickly subverted or brought to ruin.
For the last hundred years or so religion has been beset with relentless attack. You have been told it’s the “opiate of the masses “, that it’s unscientific, that it is primitive, in short , that it is a delusion.
The source of this kind of attack is always covert and hidden. It is promoted by a few who have a vested interest in a slave society.
Unfortunately these few rely on creating fear and insecurity in others
to forward and promote their enemy propaganda. These others feel correctly they have to defend themselves from an attack, but because the real enemy is hidden, they can be manipulated to attack what they really should be defending as they cannot see the real enemy.

The key here is that underneath all these attacks on organised religion there is one fundemental target:
The spirituality of man, your own basic spiritual nature, self respect and peace of mind."

It wasn't just Christianity and Islam that have used GOD to conquer all lands. As long as there is a religion and a person in power they will use that religion and their power to conquer new lands. Animals dont fight to conquer new lands. Animals fight for food. They could care less about occupying that land. They are interested in what game is available for them to eat. Man very rarely will fight like an animal for there is no animosity involved when animals fight. Man is the only thing that fights with animosity.
As for my personal views of GOD ?? I believe there is a higher being. But I believe that if I lead my life in a good manner that I will be ok. I am not going to willingly go out and do anyone wrong just because I can. I am just trying to live my life to do my thing and not infringe on anyone while I am doing my thing. I worship how I want and as long as I am doing my best then I believe that the higher being is going to be ok with me.

suresh t,
By belief as a person and a Christian (please read every word);
There hasn't been one war fought in an attempt to conquer new lands, for expressing the Christian religion. Not one.

They might have gotten more people to fight the war by saying so, but those people were the products of the State Church back in the times of the Crusades. They made that kind of believer out of people. It was not a Biblical motivation in the heart of the matter, but a successfuly politicised attempt to make it a Christian issue.

There is a fine line I know, but I believe that the distinction is warranted and true.

"Has religion become more important than god itself?"
To many of the "Religious" people, yes.

Semetic religions are more interested in SAVING others, than understanding the Truth

Instead of appreciating your beautiful suggestion ..they will shower you with question like "Why u worship idols"

Higher philosophies of hinduism is not for the tribal mentality of middle east... let them be happy with their faith.

God knows the Truth doesn't he? Hinduism remained alive...even after tyrannies of both muslims and christians for 100s of years

Hindus dont need fairy tales... they have deeper philosophies....which the world will appreciate later

Yoga has already made its mark in the world

The only thing religion does for those who are fighting is give a name with which to place the blame. Politics and greed are the real god's they are following. War is a big money machine and everyone wants those wheels to keep on turning.

Religion was created at some particular point of time for a particular social condition that existed. Unfortunately religion has always been misused for self justification and power.

people fail to realise that it is just faith that works. one person might pray to Jesus, another to Allah,

what if we were taught that a crocodile was the only god present on this earth. we would then have worshipped the crocodile itself. so it is just faith that works. rest all are just names.

I believe in God with all my heart, soul and mind, reading scripture simply helps me understand why I do, spirituality is my path to God, not religion.

when one has the attitude " my religion is the only right one and unless you believe the way I do you are not going to heaven and I therefore know what is best for everyone " then they use this as an excuse to conquer others who have whatever they want whether land, water, mineral resources, etc. they conveniently forget there are more paths and ways to get to their destination than one. the conquerors disregard the other peoples free will to worship and live as they desire.
