What you do with your hair is up to you but I think natural curly hair on African men and women is beautiful so if you wanted my advice, I'd say keep it just as beautiful as it is right now.

The only way to get your hair "straight" is to change the structure of the hair and or destroy the bonds within the hair. For temporary straightness the option is the hotcomb. A better option nowdays is the ceramic flat which is much better for your hair. For permanent straightness which = permanant damage you have the relaxer; with the chemical lye or without lye.

What you can do depends on the type of hair you have. African hair as you know ranges from tightly coiled to wavy and you didn't specify what you type of hair you have so I can't really recommend products.

Keep in mind the best hair is hair that does not have breakage and is healthy and any type of healthy hair grows as long as you want.
