Is there no Chinese word for restroom? Maybe they could say "May I be excused?" Are you the teacher or a student? I like your screen name, by the way.

In American English:
"May I use/go to the restroom?"
"May I use the bathroom?"
I think some English-speaking countries do actually call the whole room the toilets.

What happened to the word "lavatory"? That was considered the most polite and non-gross, back in MY day! Someone might also try getting a translator or a Cantonese-English dictionary. Where's the teacher in all this?

If your English lesson is under an hour, go before or after class. If you have to go, ask to go to the Mens or Ladies room, but going in the middle of class is considered slightly rude.

May I be excused. Restroom is assumed. If the person granting the permission asks, reply Restroom.
