There are always conditions. For me, condition number 1 is... don't lie to me.
If I can't trust someone... my ability to love them decreases greatly. Trust is essential to relationships.
Moreso... circumstances change. You meet someone, you're together for a while, and you feel like they understand you, they get you. But that doesn't mean they always will.
People grow and change, they take what they have for granted and they stop trying. And when that happens, its easy to fall out of love with them. And if that happens, then it wasn't unconditional.
Love needs conditions, it needs terms, because its such a powerful thing.
'Unconditional' love is an idealistic thing. I love my little brother... I can't imagine ever stopping... but if when he gets older and I get married... he bangs my wife at my wedding and then beats me with a shovel... who knows... I might not love him any more.

So, you don't have a universal standard in applying your love? It's okay if someone close to you hurts you, but not someone you don't know? How can your loved ones be certain that you'll always love them unconditionally? Not only do I believe in unconditional love, I believe in practicing it. Why should I provide an inconsistent or "favored" example. Love is looking out for one's best interests, and I feel like that is the duty of all people, regardless of conditions. In a collectivist society this would make sense to most people.

Between a parent and child (or close relative), probably.
If you are looking for unconditional love from a bf or a gf, I doubt it. With so many people to choose from, you normally need some 'conditions' to help you choose.

The most obvious unconditional love that most of us can get is from a dog. Less obvious, perhaps, but greater still, is the love that a mother has for her child.
