With the Cheif of Army staff saying that we must "pull out of Iraq soon" and that our presence there is simply exacerbating the situation both here in the UK and over there, what exactly are we doing there now? Its clear to anyone to see that the local people don't want us there. Each day we are being attacked in Iraq and Afghanistan and our troops are putting there lives at risk. Surely the average Iraqi was better off in the past then after the invasion. Isn't the leader of our army correct?

Actually, there is a tentative date of 2010. However, it is only if Iraq becomes stable. I was in Iraq for one year, from March 2004 to March 2005. The few Iraqi's I talked to did not like the US troops being there, but saw it as necessary to maintain some resemblance of order. For the most part, the Iraqi's did not hate Americans. Most of the insurgents we had confrontations with were from other countries, such as Lebanon and Syria. There are some Iraqi's that are involved on the insurgency, but not in numbers that we are hearing about here in the USA. I was against the initial invasion, but I think that now that we are there, lets help the Iraqi's get stability, both militarily and domestically.

Your question is flawed. You misquoted the Chief of Staff. Do your homework. This is how mis-information is spread, by people like you who quote without doing your research.

What was actually said was :

(AP) The U.S. Army has plans that would keep the current level of troops in Iraq — about 15 brigades — through 2010, the top Army officer said Wednesday.

The Army chief of staff, Gen. Peter J. Schoomaker, cautioned that people not read too much into the planning, because it is easier to pull back forces than to get units prepared and deployed at the last minute.

"This is not a prediction that things are going poorly or better," Schoomaker told reporters. "It's just that I have to have enough ammo in the magazine that I can continue to shoot as long as they want us to shoot."

We will leave Afghanistan when the Taliban is decimated completely. Who in their right minds would want those responsible for 9-11 back in power? Use some sense. I can not argue with you on Iraq, that mission was to remove Saddam, and as the sign on the carrier said..mission accomplished. Time to move to Afghanistan and put that dog down.

That same chief said that the troops in Iraq should be redeployed in Afghanistan, so you're looking at a long time. Especially if the leader of the army is correct.

as soon as possible, just feel as if the longer that they stay out there the more hatred is felt against the western world.i do appreciate that the main "gulity party" for 9/11 and 7/7 has not been eliminated but that should be dealt with by the sas as a covert mission, then at least that will stop all the innocent lives being lost.

because of fact of binding agreements with those international places to offer secure practices till a particular date and because in Afghanistan the militia on the floor instructed Obama a surge of troops could help to end the project quicker and because we've shape projects no longer carried out. They lied to him. Then popular McNichol went to the remote places press and criticized Pres. Obama. and because Congress gets compelled via lobbyists who signify a number of industries to perpetuate remote places operations for income. The White domicile, the Pentagon and State branch have contracts with agencies to offer human beings for specific projects. we've geared up greater militia bases and plan to maintain them completely there for the purpose of intimidating Iran and antagonizing Russia and to pacify Israel. the actual authority is Congress because of fact they might allocate money for each little thing. it quite is the reason the Guantanamo detention center remains open regardless of basically one hundred seventy prisoners. DICK is so superb. shop on with the money path to Goldman Sachs

Go watch "Voices of Iraq" and see if you feel the same.

When are we going to pull our troops out of Germany and Japan? It's been more than 60 years since WWII ended.
