Jesus taught this unconditional love but most do not like what he is saying to them.
He asked us to love everyone all of the time.
His turn the other cheek, love your neighbor as your self, love your enemy and pray for those who persecute you, along with his judge not lest ye be judged advice for us was intended to be used as a formula for dealing with others.
A formula for a happy life if you will. If you follow his formula you quickly realize that no one is excluded from the love he asked us to have for our brothers.
He asks us to see all of our brothers and sisters as beloved parts of God.
Many use Christianity as a sorting tool to separate themselves from the other parts of God. How logical is this?
To find fault with anyone is seeing some part of God as unacceptable. How likely is that?
Love and blessings Don

ANSWER 1) WHAT IS AGAPE? Dictionary...(n) (Greek) love (especially love that is spiritual and selfless in nature)
ANSWER 2) HOW DO I demonstrate that love.
Agape love...I believe agape love can be expressed best when forgiving, without bringing up the wrong again. TO forgive & love deeply a repentant husband/wife of unfaithfulness bringing the repentant mate closer to God than ever before because Christ shined through allowing us to love them, forgive them & accept them back again, as Christ did when He died on the cross. It was this selfless act that defines Agape best to me.
Loving someone when there is no logical reason to do so, when you have a WAY OUT, but choose Love and forgiveness instead. (STAY IN-LOVE)

By our very nature, humans are incapable of agape love. Try as you might, you will never be able to love someone unconditionally. There is always something someone can do that will make you hate them. Even if it is extreme and will probably never happen. (For instance, I love my husband will all my being. But if I came home from grocery shopping one day and found that he had slaughtered our cats and was in the process of eating them, I would hate him forever. If I were capable of agape love, that wouldn't matter.)
Don't get me wrong--it is still a good thing to strive for and a good ideal. The world would be a much better place if we could all love people and overlook their faults. To come close, I think the Golden Rule would be the best way, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

This is the purest of love there is. This is a love with out conditions. Christ just loves and we love Christ because he first loved us.
1Jo 4:19 We love him , because he first loved us.
Our love has a condition on it. We will love you if you love us back or show me kindness. It would be easy to love someone who is a kind person or nice. Go to the worst sinner you know and see if you can show that agape love. The worst sinner you know will most likely not show you love would not care if you lived, and would rather you die and leave them alone.
This all explains what Christ did. He came to us when we didnt want him and could care less if he was alive. but he still came anyways, and he showed that agape love the whole time.
So go to that sinner and show then that love and if they refuse you could you still go back.

Humans are incapable of Agape love. We all tend to attach conditions for everything. It's sad...

Many will say it's unconditional love.
But that not quite right.
Agape love is the love God & Jesus showed in providing the sacrifice to save mankind
But it has a condition. You have to exercise faith in that sacrifice.
A better definision is that it is "principle love."
It is love built on God's principles and laws.
Even the law eye for eye is based on principle love.
It would be wrong to kill a person because they damaged another's eye.
It is principle love that God will destroy the wicked, and give life to the righteous.
It is principle love that proves that God will not torment the wicked for an eternity.

I think that it isn't possible to show what Christ referred to as "agape" love. As stated in the Bible, it's the purest, most perfect form of love. It's given whether or not it is deserved, and as humans, we have a sinful nature. That's just how we were created; therefore, it is not possible for us to give this type of love as Christ loves the church, and all people, believers or not.

It is as you said, "the kind of Love God has for us." This kind of Love is a "Fruit of the Spirit." If you look in 1st Corinthians Chapt. 13, you'll see the word "Charity." This is the KJB, in other translations the word is translated Love & is the "Agape" you spoke of. To show the Agape Love, put your name in the place of Charity in Chapter 13. See if you measure up to that standard, if not, you can see what you need to work on. Example in verse 4 it would say "Searcher Suffers long & is Kind, Searcher envieth not; Searcher vaunteth not (him/her)self, is not puffed up." Continue on along this line & keep using your name in place of Chairity or Love. It won't take long for you or anyone for that matter to see where he falls short. Bear in mind, It is a Fruit of the Spirit, and Jesus said, "I Am The Vine, you are the branches. Except you remain in Me, you can not bear any fruit." The Vine produces the Fruit, He lets us hold it for Him. Let God through Jesus, Love others through you & your actions. You may be the only Jesus others ever see. He said, "Let your light shine." Not "Make your light shine." All we can do is "reflect His Light (Love), we are not the Source of It.

Agape love is unconditional. To show it means to show love even when people do wrong by us. I forgive you, because God forgave me. I won't hold anything over your head, because God does that for me. You feel me?
