Maybe the best approach is to discover first what's caused it? If your stiff neck is in pain because of a whiplash type of injury it's different from troubles caused by rheumatics, duff circulation of blood stream etc. Each type of pain requires its specific treatment. Brief your GP about it a priori, I'd recommend. Pain in the neck? - I've been that, whilst enduring that! Best wishes for a successful outcome.

Grasp the "meaty" part of the back of the neck firmly using the palm of the hand and the flat surfaces fo the fingers (i.e., NOT the tips). Hold that grip for about a minute. Release SLOWLY. Do the same thing to the trapezius muscles on both side of the neck...the muscles leading down from the side of the neck to the top of the shoulder.

This is a very effective acupressure technique...you'll love it! While you can do it to yourself, if you have someone around to do it to you so you can just sit there and relax, it's much better.

Sleeping problems have been causing this 'illness".I may give you suggestions to sleep properly.
A healthy diet and exercise program have been proven to not only reduce risks for certain medical conditions, but they are also known to reduce stress and to assist in sleep comfort. Stress is a leading contributor to many chronic health conditions as well as causing an imbalance in sleep patterns. Exercise does not have to be strenuous, a simple walk a few times a week is more than sufficient. A healthy diet also includes the reduction of caffeine and alcoholic intake, as well as reducing food consumption in the evening hours, which has been shown to prohibit some from sleeping better.

Take paracetamol it's a pain killer and anti-inflammatory. Massage with massage oil will help. Otherwise just wait - I know they are bad but usually don't last too long. I had to go out to a bee hive when I had one. That was really bad....
