I used to be rough and people never would have thought that I had a soft side. I'm the biggest cynic you've ever met and I can laugh even about the fact that someone died no matter how tragic. Now that is really bad... but I toned down.
I wanted to be romantic.
I started taking a keener interest in me and the things I really like. For example, I found out I really liked stuffed animals. If I'm going out with someone I like, I pay closer attention to them. I dress sexier and I'm not as loud and opinionated.
Your friends will take some time before they get accustomed to that because they have never seen the soft side of you but once you flash that side, the dates will roll chick!

Find a guy who is romantic or schooled in the ways of romance. Best way to find one of those men is to get out there and flirt with many men as you can. Before you know it, you will have gentleman wooing you with flowers, cards and such.

Well, if u want romance, be romantic in turn. Sure, you say ur not very romantic, but well, to me, being romantic, is just showing u care. You don't need to know french, or organise a shower of roses to be romantic. Just... I dunno, be polite, compliment, that kinda stuff.
