The military goes where the politician we have elected send them, so if you are against the war (and I am as well) the place to point the finger is in Washington all right but not in the Pentagon. Who would want a military that decided what orders it would, and would not, follow? That's what leads to coups like in Thailand recently or Latin America frequently.
The Army (as if it had a single will) didn't think it was fine to destroy Iraq--the politicians mistakenly and amazingly believed they could waltz in and be taken as saviors (hence, no destruction) despite the warnings of senior army generals and the State Department. It is not so much scared of Korea--everybody in uniform is busy elsewhere.
As for the cowboy: most soldiers are trained to fight in conventional wars; this isn't one, and the people who sent soldiers to Iraq were misguided and ignored the advice of senior military officers. The current Army Chief of Staff was pulled out of retirement because no senior army general was deemed "suitable" to Rumsfeld and Cheney. So the soldier (who actually, in this case, may have been a Marine) may have been trigger happy but that's almost irrelevant to the big picture. Probably he was just a scared kid who signed up in a wave of patriotic enthusiasm after 9/11, doing a job he had never been trained to do in a place that has nothing to do with 9/11.

Sir,
First and foremost let me clear the air - as the American Army isn't frightened by anyone. Secondly, the American Army didn't destroy Iraq, it was already in pretty bad shape.

The American Army is doing what it's President, who was elected by the Majority of the US Citizens, tells it to do. It is more than capable of bringing onto any nation, to include China, devastation, death and destruction if the need arises.

The true job of the American Army, is to be so powerful, and so omminous of a threat that it would deter any foreign force from daring to intrude upon the security interests, or the national defense of the United States of America.

Force, which is an extension of politics, should only be used, when there is a "Clear and Present" danger to the defense or security interests of the United States.

We are not bullies. If we were, we would kill every person in Iraq and Afghanistan who opposed us. As it is, we are attempting to help these people, who lack even the most basic of necessities, which includes potable water, clean food and electricity and shelter. We are not "trigger happy cowboys," although when threatened, we do respond with deadly force.

I happen to be here serving in Iraq, and go on Combat missions nearly every day. After 10 months of this, I can assure you, we are doing our best to turn a savage, selfish, violent people, into a society and civilization of prosperity and peace. You obviously don't understand all of whats invovled. It must be easy to judge the world from the safety of your living room, enjoying the peace that men like myself provide for you.

My message: Don't call us bullies - as we are merely doing what you citizens have asked us to do, through your freely elected representatives.

RYANIC64--Just FYI, the US has a parking lot for old planes in Arizona. That parking lot is the second largest air force on earth. The US still has the largest.
US and allied forces had chased the North Koreans all the way up to the Chinese border when China sent an estimated seven million soldiers into North Korea.

Can we say politics? This is why we went after Iraq, we need the oil! Plain and simple. We like our fancy gas eating cars, our AC our Heat in winter. We use so many natural resources but we seldom give anything back.
America while I do love her so has issues with minding our own business. We invade, destroy conquer then spend OUR money to rebuild that witch we should not have destroyed in the first place. Iraq and most of the Middle East has been fighting for many, many, many years, if they had of wanted it changed they would have revolted long ago.

The Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines are not "bullies" those men and women did what they were "told" to do by the PRESIDENT of the United States "hello" remember September 11th... if you have a problem with what the military is doing then shut your television and radio off and go about your daily life... "trigger happy cowboys" they may be called but if it wasn't for them, then what would be going on in the US today...

Invasion of Iraq may be part of a larger agenda to reshape the middle eastern nations to be more in line with the socio-economic goals of Israel.

No such political force exists to put forth such an investment in Korea.

iraq did not have china supporting it (with the largest air force in the world and more than a billion people)
Iraq did not have nukes that north korea can now use.
North korea does not have oil which is what it is all really about. MONEY!!
America has already had a war with north korea which ended in a draw!

If Bush was able to control the global economy by invading North Korea, he would've by now. Unfortunately, North Korea has nothing to offer in return for the spread of "democracy" so they were allowed to not-so-secretly develop their nukes. The only difference between the madmen controlled regimes and their quest to develop nuclear weapons is oil. So, it isn't fear, unfortunately, that stopped Bush, it was lack of a motivating factor that stopped him. Bummer, huh?
