Depending on how it was stored,if it got warm then cooled off and warm again,there can be harmful bacteria build up,a cousin of mine got "thrush" in the mouth,its when those bacterias attaches themselves to the back of your throat and creates a form/type of yeast infection,can be cleard with antibiotics.hope i answered your question.

It's just a beer company gimmick to make you paranoid and buy more beer if yours has "expired". Right. Before those best-before dates, nobody cared!
My beer reps would come in and check my dates on some of the lesser selling beers, and would pull them from the cooler and demand all the warm ones in back. And I never got compensation for that! I hate those dates on beer. It's not milk for gods sake.

Sure, beer does age but it is mostly a sales gimmick.

if you can avoid it, do so
however it should be fine to drink as drinks are made to withstand travel and freezers to a certain extent you can assume its bacteria free
