I'm 5' 6" at 170lbs. I want to get down to at least 140 or 150lbs. I know the key to lose weight is aerobic exercise combined with eating the correct foods to lose the weight. However, what I would like to know is should I lose weight first before lifting weights or is it ok to combine them? Would my excess fat turn to muscle? Thanks to those who reply...

Your on the right track, Cardio is essential to losing weight but, just like you said, its a good idea to mix the too cause in response to losing weight one should aim to build strong and lean muscle. When you train with weights use the lightest possible weight that is still effectively making you arms sore. this confirms that your body is still working its muscles and building leanily at that. Your on the right track, keep up the good work and results should in fact be favorable.

It is ok to combine them. Your fat will not turn to muscle, but with proper diet and exercise should reduce in size. YOur muscle tissue will firm up and may increase in size depending on your work out. Good Luck! You can do it!
