and not British citizens with the same right to live their life style (how they want as long as it harms no one.) as every other person in the UK.

Most British Muslims were born in the UK . Their life style has just as much rights as going to the pubs , and fish chips.. It is all part of British culture now.

Sorry it's not part of British culture and never will be. Can you go to a muslim country and take the British culture over there? Don't think so. My husband was in the navy and visited many muslim countries and respected their culture and quite rightly so. The same should be done here. I have nothing against muslims personally but the English are proud of their culture and don't want it changed thank you very much.

It's not the fact that Muslims are here, it's the fact that a lot of them want to change the British way of life. We are told so many things are offensive to Muslims and we must stop doing them but why should we? The UK was not a Muslim country and it is understandable that a lot of people don't want it turned into one. We don't want our sky lines to be filled with Mosques. Muslims have their own councils, why not just try to integrate instead of demanding special rights like this? It's not the fact that we assume Muslims are guests, it's the fact that they segregate themselves. If a school has the same uniform rules for everyone, then 'everyone' should include Muslims. They should wear the same things as all the other children. Just very recently a Muslim school teacher has been suspended for wearing the veil whilst teaching in class and anyone with any sense can see that this will make it harder for the children to hear and see the teacher's facial expressions. If Muslims tried to fit in a bit more then they probably wouldn't be regarded as guests so much. Although a lot were born in the UK, there are still a lot who don't even speak English and make no effort to learn the language. If I went to a Muslim country, I wouldn't expect things to be changed for me and I would expect to have to learn the language. I certainly wouldn't demand translators and want English schools funded by the government (yes there are Muslim only, government funded schools in the UK). This hopefully give some answers to your question.

Maybe you have answered your own question - "Why do people assume that Muslims are guests in the UK? and not British citizens with the same right to live their life style (how they want as long as it harms no one.) as every other person in the UK."

As long as it harms no one? Well sadly it has and 7/7 is proof of that.

Muslims seem to want a complete change in the British way of life, a change to their islamic way. This is becoming apparrent in todays climate of troubles caused by these terrorists who are more than proud to claim the Muslim way.

I am still amazed about the Muslim protest in London earlier this year, about the Danish cartoons, where Muslims held banners claiming clearly that more terror was coming to Europe! And you want me to allow you to change Britian to an Islamic state???

Is it any wonder we have reservations about peaceful intentions and form an opinion that Muslims are dangerous?

I only react to what is actually happening in our society. It's one thing to debate the ethics and philosiphy of intergration and whats best for us all, than have people who actually create terror AND murder innocent members of the publics, people of all faiths for that matter!

The muslim adherance to the will of allah and the words of the prophet are the reason that some people feel they are alien to british culture. Teenage brides being sent abroad to marry men they have never met doesnt help, we also have the teenage muslim boys who discover the joys of western freedoms like sex drugs rock and roll and alcohol who when the father finds out send them to pakistan and a madrassar for Islamic re_indoctrinisation and come back radicalised ,add to that the lack of womens rights thats why BRITONS FIND MUSLIMS ALIEN .iNTEGRATE OR EMIGRATE,eventually that will be your choice ,the rest of the populace will only take so much.

i think maybe its to do with many muslims not seeing themselves as British at all, but as muslims instead.
Kind of- A muslim who lives in Britain
rather than a British muslim. If that makes sense!

I think that islam religion and perhaps British culture clash. i also think that segregation is becoming a BIG issue, with muslims making "ghettoised area's" so to speak, and not taking time to spend with people outside of their own muslim communities.

Its a lot about having no intergration, and having not much sense of being British (For muslims) and that feeling that muslims aren't to non muslim people.

We don't think you are guests we think you're trouble! We British citizens DO think you have the right to live as us, but you don't!! For a start, wearing your veil is not living like a British citizen, do you see any of our women wandering around like that? If they were to walk around in all their jeans and t-shirt glory in say, Saudi! They'd be fekking hung! Why do you have to wear it? Just cos your husband tells you that you have to cos he said so, that's not the way we operate in the UK, man and woman are as 1 here - women are not the underdogs. So when you start living like a UK citizen, you'll be treated like one.

If I went around everywhere in a black balaclava and refused to take it off because it was my lifestyle choice, I'd soon be ostracised and probably arrested too. It's pretty selfish of these people who insist on wearing full face coverage when it clearly goes against all common sense (as in the case of the teaching assistant), it's clearly not necessary for their religion because so many in the same faith do not wear it.

Any ladies fancy going over to Iran and wearing hot pants and a bikini top in the street? You'd be stoned to death!

My point is that they do not make an effort to fit in, they act like guests themselves, so people think of them as such. You don't see most people complaining about people who perhaps have an Indian accent but do not wear the full face gear, because they've accepted this country and it's traditions as their home and made an effort to fit in.

I personally don't want to victimise all Muslims and i know there is good and bad in all cultures.
what i don't agree with is the way outsiders come to our country reap the rewards of the country and then slag it off and try to kill its inhabitants just to be heard i and people like me want to be heard but i don't go to a Muslim country and try and kill the inhabitants.theres one thing living in a country and i agree your English as i am its the people that are not English that come here for a better standard of living that seem to forget they are guests and as such should refrain from inciting unrest in ENGLAND.
Any religion that preaches death and destruction on our people black and white will never be accepted by us we are a Christian country and if the Muslims don't like it than emigrate back to a Muslim country.
my way of thinking is if it was so good living in squalor in say Pakistan then go for it sorry.
but that's my opinion.

Act like a guest, get treated like a guest!! I am British, and do not consider Islam/Muslims part of MY culture! In fact, I would rather it was not here at all!! You people assume/demand far too much. Perhaps thats the problem!

Good point well made but not all Muslims like to class themselves as British and as such they don't identify themselves as being British. This causes friction in the towns as you in essence have 2 communities living alongside each other and there in lies the problem.
