Many natural herbal studies suggest a correlation between garlic intake and lower BP levels. But the studies are somewhat vague. Garlic's benefit may actually be to reduce bacteria and virus levels as well as yeast levels in the blood. And because these microbes are directly responsible for inflammation and this inflammation can affect the constriction of arteries it follows that by taking the garlic its an indirect positive effect on BP as less constriction in arteries will mean lower blood pressure. Most importantly, Garlic is a great supplement to take on a daily basis to prevent virus from making you sick and probably reducing blood pressure. But it seems the minimal level must be achieved at least twice a day every twelve hours to reap any consistent benefit. When you ask "how much" its a vague question because different garlic capsules have different potency's. But generally speaking herbal supplements contain a daily dose but as I said you may need to double what they suggest as most companies only suggest one a day but there is no harm in taking it twice a day. And if you get a cold or virus take it 4x a day to knock down a cold much the way you would expect to take an antibiotics 4 x a day. I am currently taking garlic for a cold that got about 5 days ago. And I am taking it 4x a day. I notice that most of my symptom subside within an hour of taking it. So I think it is definitely knocking down the virus that is causing the cold. Hopefully this will keep it from becoming a more serious respiratory condition.
