In the middle ages it was great entertainment to draw and quarter, hang and guillotine.
You think people dont like gore?

I am a Christian and a Correctional Officer and for the most part I wouldn't want to witness an execution but I feel that they are necessary. Does anyone here have any idea how much it cost to keep an inmate incarcerated? Three meals a day, medical treatment and the list goes on and on. However in the case a year or so ago with the sex offender in Florida that abducted the little girl and killed her I would gladly be the one to administer the death penalty.

Well, I don't support capital punishment and I doubt I could sit and watch someone being killed whilst strapped down and restrained, BUT, if I were to be honest, I think I could watch and be entertained by something such as the gladiatorial arenas of ancient Rome, were they to be still in existence today.

We humans are inherently violent. Regardless of the romantic notions concerning the nature of humans many people have and those who like to deny their basic nature, we collectively have a morbid fascination with violence, death and gore. Just look at any serious accident on the road and you'll see 99% of everyone passing, looking to see what they can see of it...

Another great question there, Spooky!

;)

An eye for an eye....It sounds completely hypocritical to say, Yes I support capital punishment, but I don't want to see it or be the one to pull the switch. I personally would not be able to witness something like that. The memory of it would be haunting for me. I would not make a good juror for a capital punishment case. I do not think I could condemn someone to death, no matter how much it may be justified. Anger is swift, and in the heat of a moment it would be easy to say YES, death! But the repercussions from a decision like that would be too much for me I feel.

Although men or women should have to be punished for doing things they should not be doing,,laws being broke,I still feel it is up to the Lord to decide who gets punished..I could not watch someone die,no way...I love life to much..These people who have been put in this spot remember they knew what they were doing at the time of the actions taken..They knew there was a chance of getting caught, therefore should not have commited the crime..

I do not support capital punishment. I am Pro Life all the way so there is no way I would want to witness an execution.

Absolutely, especially if it is someone that did harm to my family or friends. I would feel a sense of closure. I believe in an eye for n eye. Murderers should be murdered and rapists should be castrated. I would have absolutely no remorse in watching an execution, provided the prisoner is being executed for the right reason.

I don't support capital punishment, BUT if anyone in my family was murdered by someone, I would support it and yes I could witness that execution. I know it's a double standard, but it is how I feel.

I don't support Capital Punishment, but I know I'd never be able to witness an execution. Not even if it were for someone who killed my family members.

That would depend on the execution. Who's getting executed, why... If it was just some theif who got caught up in a bad deal, I don't think I could. A child molester, I don't think I'd have a problem with watching the execution.

Countries which do not have capital punishment tend to have lower rates of crime than those that do.
Paradoxical? It is a fact, just check it out.
And no. I can never personally watch an execution.
