As well as our joint account, we allow ourselves £50 each per month that we don't have to account to the other for. I've saved £110.

The holiday is £160 - so do-able next month. It's somewhere he's been before and said he'd like to show me. Last year he took me to Copenhagen. I took him to Switzerland as a combined anniversary / Christmas / birthday present (LOTS of saving required!) We both love travelling.

The camera will be about £500. We have a digital camera, held together with sellotape. It works OK, but I'd like a new one - for taking photos of our travels! The plan was to get it in time for going to Norway next year (which we're saving for separately).

So - Prague or the posh camera?

Prague. Things have much less worth than experiences. What exactly are you taking picture of if not good experiences? Digital Slurs are over-hyped anyway - get a good compact camera as often you can't tell the differences in the pictures and the digital SLRs can result in bad pictures due to the time needed to get the most out of them.

You are lucky to have a man who enjoys going away on weekend breaks!! The ones I have been with are miserable swines. I would say save up for camera and holiday. Prague will still be there in a few months time! Why don't you book ahead the cheap flights then use the time in between to save up for the camera. If you can't wait then go with hubbie because nice memories in a marriage are very precious.

Prague is one of many towns worth-visit and to achieve that you can begin planning your holiday with hotelbye . Beginning with the wonderful place across the Prague Castle or the Strahov monastery with its outstanding library and finish with …the entire outstanding city, Prague is simply incredible. In Prague you may also visit the small home wherever Franz Kafka worked or the lovely Prague Castle gardens from where you are able to like a distinctive view of the city with its picturesque red roofs. In that town you'll never get bored. In the event that you should go during the spring you will see the spring woods in flower; in the summertime you will dsicover long dusks; fall will provide you with colorful leaves and unique light and in winter months you will enjoy the whole town covered with simple bright snow.

Compromise. If he already has one and doesn't see the use of buying a new camera, he's probably hesitant to spend a thousand dollars on another one, even if he "doesn't have a financial problem." It's still a lot to invest in a camera. So find something that's maybe half the price and discuss it with him...OR...earmark $250 of your own money per week (or whatever interval you want) and before you know if you'll have $1000 saved up and you can buy that camera all by yourself.

New SLR. It will be frustrating to go to prague and not be able to take really good photos of it. It will be worth the wait!
