"For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger and ye took me in: Naked and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison and ye came unto me...Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the -least- of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. Then shall he say unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was hungered, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not...Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me."
Matthew 25: 35-45
Do you welcome strangers into your home? Do you treat them as you would Jesus? Do you behave in private as you do in public? Do you conduct yourself as if Jesus were watching you?
"Be ye perfect, even as your Father in Heaven is perfect".
Matthew 5:48

Dear Orion,
I try. Some times I succeed and other times I fail. But I am comforted by the fact that in this life we are Works In Progress.
I had a big thrill a few years ago when I was visiting a former neighbor in a nursing home. Each time I went there were always residents who never got any visitors sitting in the hallways. One time a wheelchair-bound woman asked me for a cup of water. WOW! I went down the hall and brought back 2 cups for her. But then I started wondering if I had done the right thing.
Something that I ponder is the fact that IF one were to accumulate ALL of the good things done by human beings throughout all time we still would not deserve God's grace. But He knows that. IF each person who has accepted Jesus Christ as LORD and Savior were to do what they are able to do in His name then our heavenly Father will perfect that which concerns us.
By the way I did take a missionary couple to the grocery store this week and after they selected what they needed for company I paid for their purchases. I also gave them a grocery gift card. I don't tell you this to boast because I get great JOY from doing this type of thing. I live on a fixed income and have no medical insurance but I am abundantly blessed.
God bless you as well!

fireball...
your answer sickens me
what would Jesus do?
I can't say your answer even remotely compares to biblical example
but you exemplify what a Christian "on fire for god" is...
so I guess I shouldn't be surprised
you DO know what bigotry and a high moral ground is, right?
for me? yes. Especially after hurrican Katrina, my eyes were opened and I see not just the Katrina survivors as people in need but those around me now
no I conduct myself as if I was accountable to family, neighbors, ethics and universal principles were guiding me (which Jesus also taught, but wasn't new)
how can anyone actually be perfect? Hitler tried and failed, even got his perfect race from outside the Fatherland

Very Good! I was about to give you a totally different answer, until I saw where you were coming from.
Yes I strive to do as Christ said, with the exception of welcoming strangers into my Home.
I have a Prison/Rest Home Ministry, and I Minister to them whenever I have the opportunity.

Jesus is God as suggested interior of right here scriptures and somewhat some others. Jesus became the only Begotten Son of God. John 3:18 - He that believeth on him isn't condemned: yet he that believeth no longer is condemned already, because of the fact he hath no longer believed in the call of the only begotten Son of God. a million John 4:9 - in this became manifested the affection of God in the direction of us, because of the fact God sent his in basic terms begotten Son into the international, that we'd stay by him. John a million a million in the beginning up became the interest, and the interest became with God, and the interest became God. 2 the comparable became in the beginning up with God. 3 All issues have been made by him; and with out him became no longer any element made that became made. 4 In him became existence; and the existence became the easy of adult males. 5 And the easy shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it no longer.

seems like you already know the answer!
Sometimes we as humans can get caught up in ourselves and our lives and not take time out to look around and see the needs of others.
It's true that by helping others it would be like we were helping God. But we shouldn't do it because of that reason we should do it because we love God because God is love.
it's hard to treat someone nicely if you hate them or don't like them or if they're dirty or whatever. But we we're all made in the image of God and therefore should try and have that mindset if we shirk away from helping someone that looks dirty or doesn't appear as we would like.

Christians are some of the most closed-minded, nasty-spirited people I've ever met, and less so, also some of the most generous-spirited people I've met. There seems to be no middle ground, and in my experience (as an ex churchgoer) a sizeable majority mix largely amongst themselves and would certainly not take anyone they didn't know and approve of anywhere near their house.

I do my best to. I live life under the ideal that, "I am to be subservient to mankind, where all lawful requests are to be done as if the Lord Himself had asked me. With happiness and joy, without grumbling, whining, or complaining". For most people, I am able to apply that... though I must admit it is really hard to apply it to my mom-in-law.

I try to treat people as Jesus. But sometimes I don't. I believe the same in public as in private.
