One of the most common things told by doctors before trying a medication is to lower caffeine intake, only go to bed when you are really tired and ready to fall asleep, do not exercise close to bedtime, use the bed only for sex and sleeping (dont eat in bed, try not to watch tv, or do work in bed). The last one they usually tell you is kind of hard to keep. I fyou are in bed for 20 minutes and you find that you are having trouble falling asleep, get out of bed go to a dimly light room, and sit there for around 10 minutes until you feel that you are ready to try and fall asleep again. STaying in bed saying "oh my god I cant sleep" causes people to stay awake even longer. Good luck catching some ZZZ.

I can only give a few suggestions ...
I am a nurse and the response I hear most from my providers is to first start an exercise program. I know, I don't like to exercise either. But a consistant exercise program will aid in sleep. If this does not help, some try over the counter aid like Tylenol PM ( this is tylenol with benadryl) .. Benadryl is an antihistamine that sometimes make you drowsy. Prescription drugs are also available... but try this option last. Hope this helps.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

There are too many reasons for insomnia to list here. It would be better to know your age, sex and lifestyle. Add that to your question and maybe you can get some help. Otherwise check with your doctor maybe he/she can help.

I haven't been able to figure it out.
I'e tried warm milk, turkey, soothing music, exercise before sleep. Nothing works with consistancy
I am NOT going to be taking medication to combat it, though
