It is getting more possible every day. When we got the technolgy in the 40's we opened a can of worms. The more nations that have this awful weapon the better chance that it will be used even if it destroys the world.

Unlikely. We've gone over 60 years with the technology to destroy life on this planet without anyone comming close. We've seen the horror of what Nuclear war does to humans in Nagasaki and Hiroshima and we're hesitant to take any chance that would bring us there again. By the time we reach a genocidal attitude as a planet we'll have much deadlier weapons that mere nukes.

Not anytime soon, unless there's sudden a political diaster....I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Almost no one wants this to happen in their lifetime, but we have to accept that total war is only way to secure a peaceful existence. However, considering humans have basically no enemies other than ourselves it really is sad to know we are the source of our own frustration and demise.
Unfortunately, the average lay person doesn't realize their political sway and the governments are too self-interested too care about a future that promises more than their own short lived successes.

There will not be a Nuclear War, but someone might set off a bomb in a City.

Eventually. Who will start it or finish it doesn't matter, EVERYONE on the planet will lose.
