Her father must have his rights terminated. This can either happen by him signing them away or them being taken away because of abandonment. I do not know about your state, but here you cannot take them away for abandonment unless there has been no contact for six months. Child support is considered contact. If he wants to sign them away, it is a lot easier. My attorney said it will cost us about $2500. That does not include the homestudy. Hope this helps! You should call a family law attorney in your area for exact laws for your state.

Your ex would have to agree on the adoption - unless he has abandoned her- court costs vary and so do lawyer fees- so give one a call- it should be easy- my ex would not agree- D

it's not too long and drawn out, and not too costly, but i can't give you specifics.
i was adopted by my mother's second husband when they got married...but when they got divorced, since his name had been replaced on the birth certificate as my legal father, he got custody of me, with my mother only having once monthly visits...and since he moved out of state, that was very difficult. he then gave me up for adoption to her parents , who also never let me see her. i know your husband loves you, but if anything in the marriage goes sour, having your daughter legally adopted by him gives him a lot of legal leverage with her.
