and when a person enters or exits our life, was it for a reason?

Yes I do. But I believe life is a mix. We are destined to meet some people....but have the freedom of will to meet others - not fated. It depends on the path we choose to take. Free will often interferes with the best laid plans.....even the universes!

Fatalists would have you believe that meetings are predestined, and that there is nothing anyone can do to alter that.
Determinists would argue that, although meetings are predestined, certain outside factors could have contributed to this becoming the case.

I'd argue that Fatalism and Determinism are sort of stupid. There are reasons for every action (would there have even been an action without the reason). Whether or not those reasons are predetermined, I have no clue, although people do tend to try and fullfil their own prophecies.

The way I understand it, is that we make an agreement with other souls before we come to enter another life time about who will enter and play a role in it.
you give each other a clue of recognition, like a certain article of clothing, jewelery, fragrance, hair color etc.
That's why we meet people and say, "It feels like I know you." or"Haven't we met somewhere before?"
We are fated to meet the people in the life WE CHOSE to live, but we have free will about how we live that life.
It's all about learning.

I believe it is fate. If you think about it, everyone you have met, since your memory can remember, has left an imprint on you. Good or bad, they (in a way) have helped you grow to who you are.
It is my pleasure to meet who God sends my way. I mean I come from New Zealand, raised there til 8, but here I am in the U.S. with a family and friends of my own. That's fate, as everyone has their own. Be happy just to be.:o]

I think we are like the captain of a ship

we didn't make the water

we don't control the wind

and we didn't pick the boat or crew

but we do control it and have to maintain it

we get out of it what we put into it, "sink or swim" lol

we can allow others to join us or get on board

or sail in proximity

but we have choices to make and we can foster the conditions that favor life or death and create the circumstances for others to want to stay or leave

the reason? often it's based on Self Interest, or what motivates all people and animals...self preservation, the will to survive, and basic greed and hunger, most motives can be traced to self interest, most do not do things for others unless brainwashed or become a pundit for religious ilk or as they say a fireball for jesus

I believe in fate to a certain extent. Not every little detail of our lives but perhaps some of the major parts.

No, because that would be to believe that there is some kind of intelligence governing the universe and the events that occur in it. There is no reason to suppose that any such thing exists, and therefore I don't believe in 'fate'.

Yes, I believe so though it does not contradict with free will. Everything happens for a reason though sometimes things seem unexplainable. Allah's wisdom is above everything.

I absolutely agree that people come into or out of our lives with a divine purpose.
I believe that God gives us everyone we meet for a reason.
If we open our eyes.

YES! I met my husband through my ex's mom. I could not be happier and I'm far better off just by my husband coming into my life right when I needed him the most!!!!
