With care and a cool head. Consistancy is the key, communication between you and your child should remain open. When you get into a staring contest with the kid, just walk away, if she hits you, let your conscience be our guide. Nip that fighting thing in the bud or you will be in the principle's office every week.

Put her butt in a time out chair. explain to her that this where girls who want to fight go . And if she gets up then keep putting her back. If she hits you then it is simply alright to give her a tap on her bottom and let her mother know you did this. Seems like her mother should be doing this but obviously has not seen to any displine about or towards this girl. Good Luck.

Ohh yes. My 3 year old niece is the same way. She use to treat me like that too but now she dont. She used to not listen to me, when she was eating- she used to talk and not eat her food, and after several times of her ignoring me when i told her to eat her food she told me to be quiet. I got so mad, I told her "you dont want to eat your food? well im throwing it away" so thats what i did, then I took her I taped her on the butt and I told her "now your gonna sit on the coutch and your not moving" (but i didnt scream, if you scream it probably dont work cause she gets worked up too). And I gave posicle sticks to all my other cousin and she didnt get any. Then next time she tried to do the same thing and i told her "do you remember what happened last time?" and she ate her food. You have to say what you mean, they are manipulative but they cant control you, they aint even in the 2 digit age group yet.

Consistency, consistency, consistency.
Don't threaten consequences and then don't follow through. Always mean what you say and do what you have said you would do. For example: if you hit anyone today, there will be no trip to the ice cream place.
Then, if she hits, NO ICE CREAM. And so on. Even at her age, she will understand that things will be taken away if she misbehaves, and there will be things she will not want taken away.
