Luella was actually a popular name a long time ago, and I see no problem with using it now. It's better than choosing one of the names that every 3rd baby born is stuck with, I know so many little girls named Emily and Emma right now, pretty names, yes, but every time the teacher calls out a name half the room raises their hands. I think it's pretty and so is Catarina.

What we did was a simple search for Latin and Sanskrit baby names at http://www.babynamenetwork.com We used a few other sites too. FIrst we made a list of names with meaning that we liked just to get as many down on paper as we could. Next we picked our favorite first names and we both agreed on this. After that we started adding middle names also considering the initials. We finally came up with a plan that we would use the same initials for any children we might have and it all fell into place.
Honestly I think the name Sarah is the most beautiful of femaile names. We chose this as a prefix but we created our own version so I can share that much on the Internet. But maybe start with a name that both of you really like then sort of move from there looking up meanings. You can also go to http://www.ssa.gov and get all of the most popular names each year for both boys and girls. This is the offical Social Security website so just look to the left where a window is moving and wait until "baby names" scroll down.
This is really important because we all know people who absolutely hate their names. Chloe is one that is going around right now that I just know will be hated in 20 years.
Anyway, Catarina sounds Russian. Tara is a beatiful name that I think means star in every language we look up. Catarina is really a form of the name Catherine, which then becomes Cathy, which is one of the most common names around. I like Ella better than Luella for some reason.Luani sounds better to me.

I LOVE different names, as long as they're not cheesy like Cloudy Sky. So ast first glance I would vote for Luella. But when you consider what people are actually going to call her, Lue is what jumps out. While Luella is very pretty and unique, Lue reminds me of a middle aged man. Catarina is nice, but Cat and Katie are common names if she gets a nickname. Neither of these names are faddish, so go with what you like best.

Caterina.
Italian for Catherine. Beautiful name.
You can bet the nickname will be "Cat".
You could shorten it to Terina. Nickname may be Teri.
My grandmother was Luella.

Name your baby what you want, but personally I think Luella sounds strange (not in a good way) and I associate it with Cruella (De´Ville)...
